Default Charge my A/C...safe Way?

So my A/C is somewhat cool but not the cold that it should be. It takes a few minutes for it to reach a somewhat comfortable temp.

I watched a few videos on youtube of guys using the refill stuff you get from autozone...Does this work? Is it safe?

Just trying to recharge the system for cheap.

Well, first off get a gauge. They are at any parts store and they come with a refill kit. Turn you A/C on attach the gauge to the low pressure end. If you in the green you do not need to charge your system. If your low add till the green. If it stays hi you compressor in on the outs. Not sure where the low pressure end is on the 3.0. On the 4.0 it's on the passenger side between the engine and coolant overflow.

anybody point me in the direction of the low pressure connection?

so if the pressure is in the green and my air is barely cold then I need a new compressor? just clarifying.
.....

Nevermind, just saw a thread with posts with instructions on this. Sorry.

There are many different causes of why your A/C may not be working. Don't necessarily condemn a certain part because of what a cheap autozone gauge tells you. The pressures in the system themselves vary with temperature.

Worked great! Was only at 20 psi. Filled to 45 psi. Cold as a meet locker now. Feels great to save money. Thanks for the help.
