Power Steering Pump?
I've got a 1999 Ranger and it is sitting on 33's at the moment, which i know are on the large side, and my power steering pump whines a little because of it. It just has the stock pump right now, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a stronger power steering pump or anything I could do to fix the whining problem. The truck is running strong and has no problems besides that whine. So is there another pump or something I could purchase to fix the problem?

Turn the radio up and deal with it like a real man. A truck makes noises.

Re: Power Steering Pump?
look up the part numbers.. they arent EXACTLY the same.
my f350 7.3l has MOTORCRAFT Part # STP56RM
the ranger 2.9l has MOTORCRAFT Part # STP25RM
theyre identical in apperance. doubt the internals arent much different

Lol so anyways there is no aftermarket pump I can purchase or anything that's a bit more beefed up than the stock one? That's another thing I was thinking about, if it would be possible to swap maybe a diesel or any other full-sized truck's power steering pump into the ranger. I would imagine that a full-size truck would have a better one, not the same?
