Default 2000 Ranger dies then starts within 1 min

For over 2 years I have had the problem of my truck dying when I'm driving it in town, I pull over, wait 1 or 2 minutes, then starts up again. The first time it happened, (8/2008) engine light when on, mechanic installed EGR sensor based on the codes found. Didn't have any problems until 3 months after, took it to dealer (4/2009). They found that it was the DPFE sensor. It did it once around (6/2009), then it started again this year. It happens once a month sometimes or one day around 1 month ago, it happened 3 times in the same day. I have put a a new cam sensor, fuel filter, tune up. Runs great, however it did it again yesterday. I odd thing is that I just used the truck to go camping up in Kings Canyon 3 weeks ago and not a problem. Does anyone have a clue, I don't know what to look for.

Does it die at idle or sputter out while driving?

If you have any inclination to take it to a mechanic, ask them to look at the freeze frame data on the suspended code and if they can print that information so that you can at least have that. Freeze frame data will be a list of stuff like engine temp, fuel trim, engine load, how much voltage the ECU was getting, et cetra all at the time of the incident. If it happened again, you'll have a suspended code even if the CEL isn't lit, unless it's being caused by a loose battery cable or loose alternator connection that isn't monitored by your OBD.
