Default Oil Problems

Hello,

My name is Tyler and I just bought a 88 ford ranger with only 68k miles. I put too much oil in it on accident and a black hose popped off the relieve pressure and oil went everywhere. Me and my uncle spent all night on a friday trying to get that hose back on. Once we got it on the truck started up good, smoked a little burning the oil off inside the engine but other then that it seems fine. BUT the oil light keeps comming on and and I stop and pull over and check the hose and the oil level it is all fine. Then when I start the truck back up the oil light is off. Any ideas on this or what I should/could/need to do to get this truck back in shape?

Have you atleast put a new Stronger clamp on the hose? I think you might be losin' pressure?...

No I didn't put a new clamp on it but I did run some fuel and injector cleaner through it twice already and plan to run a third one. The hose looks tight and doesn't spit or anything when its idle or reving the engine.

Worried and the oil light will flicker then stay on but once I pull over and check the oil level and that hose to see if it popped off again, nothing is wrong the oil level is fine and the hose is snuggly holding up. Main worried about it because its my first car and I want to make it better. like ideas on what I should do now thats I over filled it with oil. Should I run something else through it or clean something? The air filter was clean, no oil in it at all. And the oil filter was just changed 3 days ago when I changed the oil, hints when I over filled it. But I have let out some oil and the oil level is fine now.
