Default Can't figure out if this part pack will work. RockAuto master rebuild kit

So, I've got a '98 ranger 2.5l manual, 2wd and I want to do a total overhaul on the motor, Does anyone know if this would be the right thing to order? I've got it set as standard size.

This is the link to the info of what's in it: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...883&cc=1315103

Anyone have some input?

I finally got the truck running after a bit of work and talking to my boss and a co-worker(Both Ford Senior Master techs of around 35+ years)

That would be all you need.

I would personally be affraid to rip into it to find out the crank or cam have been ground before. Unless your 100% sure it hasn't.

Long story short it happened to a customer at my work before. It can't be returned more then likely.

I'm pretty sure it hasn't. From what the kid told me, is that it's pretty much stock. I know most of it just from looking is the original parts. I mean, the shackles and brackets(Not that it means much) are factory, And I just blew one to pieces the day I brought it home. So those are getting replaced too.

I'm half considering just redoing the entire engine from the block and crank as long as they are in good shape.

It's also a bonus to me that I'm taking Automotive tech in school and this semester we are learning engine repair, engine performance, and manual trans.

If you can find a good machine shop to redo the block, crank and cam I would go that route. Then you just need the .010" bearings.

They can even check your heads for issues.

I deal with diesels so a ford ranger engine should be fairly cheap.

Alright, I'll have to see about finding a shop around here. Any members wanna chime in on the Southern Maine or just over the New Hampshire border(Conway area)?

Do yall have the equipment in school to do the work there?

When I was in school we did and they allowed us to bring it in and use it to learn on. So you got free labor and your stuff fixed.

I could use my engine if I could drive the truck there. But we don't have machining tools. Only place local is our main Napa center. I'll have to call them on Monday.
