I hate small GM motors...Seen more sunfires/cavis with engine problems than i have seen nissans with blue/black smoke...My nissans have all lasted at least 190k and the one that didnt make 200k was my fault...As for the SR being too long, I wouldnt know...the only reason I said anything was because I heard of someone else doing that build on a ranger...Dont know if it was ever successful. And it would go along with the F&F theme...
Your ecotec numbers are off, those specs match to the 2.2l non-ecotec. The ecotec 2.2 non-turbo is 150/150. Don't forget GM always underestimates their stats, and that all japanese companies have been found guilty in court of boosting numbers.

Besides, i can see where you'd say the cavy/sunny had a crap engine when it had the quad 4 engine (think it was the 2.4), it would always break down, but the 2.2l non-ecotec was solid, not too far behind the ecotecs (but not as durable under heavy mods though).

Gotta love a performance german engine in an american car.

I just used google...I think the 205hp out of the SR is right on though...I wouldnt know about the torque, but the torque has too be sufficient to be such a popular swap amongst drifters.

It's a mustang engine. Using the modular 4.6l or a 5.0l you can build either in Naturally aspirated to easy 400 hp and more if you are willing to do a lot of engine work. Turboing these engines takes a lot more time and $$$ That a lot of people don't want to do. Check out Hot Rod or Car Craft, they had a Vic that was just featured

Yup, the quad four was a POS!!! lol German straight 6 engines are the shit lol they are tough as nails and the engine designs are relatively unchanged since they first came to the scene

They are a popular swap among drifters because they are rear wheel drive applications, as well as they are relativaly easy to mod, there are a lot of parts out of there for these engines. I don't want to bash the SR20DETT it's a good engine but it's at a cost and they need to be dyno tuned to get a proper power ration all across the power band from what I have seen with them. Also maintenance is KEY to keep these engines alive.

Default Cold hard facts...

Here's the cold hard facts. Nissian and all of those imports can make a decent car or truck. GM, Ford and Chrysler have alot going on right now and NONE OF THEM make their vehicles COMPLETELY in the USA. Ford's engines and trans are GERMAN FOR THE ENGINE, AND EITHER FRANCE OR JAPAN FOR THE TRANS. Chrysler is now a COMPLETE IMPORT due to the fact that Fiatt bought them out. GM still makes their engines and trans in the USA but the rest is made in Mexico and Canada. Ford is the ONLY ONES THAT MAKE THEIR CHASSIS IN THE USA. If you want a completely made in the USA car I suggest that you build your own from the ground up or purchase a Factory 5 racing Replica kit.

I read recently that the 4w3som3 ecoboost is made in the us. Dunno about the other engines.

Technology-wise Gm is mostly Opel nowadays anyways.

Nope. I just looked at a sho not that long ago. Then engine is from germany, the tranny is from japan. There's a sticker on the driverside window that tells the parts content and where it was made.

Couldn't be an action flick. Going from racing and drifting to cruising would be weird.

Going slow is not that exciting no matter how many sparks you can throw.

Well I race motorcycles, so I say so. Mini trucks are not fast. Anything with a crippled suspension is going to be inheriently unstable at high speed. If it were a sport tuned suspension you would have control, but let's face it. A mini truck is just a low rider.

Unless you own a NASCAR truck, $200k trophy truck or anything comparible...... It's not quick, you've just never actually driven anything thats truly fast so you're only going off your limited experiences.

there is an actual ranger like that on TRS...no joke. 6.0L twin turbo wedged in an stx...its plain dirty.
