I was looking at buying a Chinese made Great Wall Motors 4x4 Diesel but soon changed my mind after taking one for a test drive. I couldnt believe how under powered it was, in my opinion it wouldnt pull the skin off a bowl of custard. So one day I was passing a Ford Dealership and decided to take the Ranger for a spin ..it was love at first ride, has the power I need it's a great ute and very very happy with it.

I needed a thrifty little truck, found one 100 miles away, bought it the same day. Seems these trucks are strange like that. I only drove it for two minutes before I knew I was going to buy it.
Well. That, and I hate Chevrolets. Maybe if they built something a little better looking, and that the ball joints didn't fall out of, I might be more interested in buying one.

I haven't been truly happy with a vehicle since my first one ('87 Lincoln Town Car). I loved the gold color and tan interior of that thing, the length of it and how it drove, and the fact that it would go just about anywhere I wanted to go... (Luxury car I know, but it still had the power and weight to leave the road once in a while without getting stuck.)
My next favorite was a retired Police Interceptor. (Crown Vic) It had the length, the power, and the overall handling I liked, but it was just to... utilitarian. There were things about it I loved like the black honeycomb grill, but it just wasn't me. It was later stolen by a local hispanic cartel and is no doubt involved in the current border war now.
The Insurance company offered to buy me a new vehicle, and the only thing available that was even remotely satisfying was an '97 Ford Explorer Sport 2x4. I never was happy with this vehicle, and decided to sit down and make a list of all features I would want if I was designing my IDEAL vehicle. That list led me to start looking at the Ford Ranger.
Ended up trading the Explorer for my Ranger, which met every criteria I had set (Even had the same Harvest Gold color I loved from the Town Car). I love the truck so much, I honestly can't imagine myself ever driving anything other than a Ranger now.

always liked them for some reason, I remember when the new EDGE ranger came out and they had the commericals of it pulling jet ski's through the mud. I said I want one of those. Got a 2000 xlt 2wd first then upgraded to what I have now

I was looking for a "better" milage vehicle and a local body man had this one with a FS sign on it, 102K miles, great condition, new tires, custom paint job, $3K. I put another $1K in American Racing "daisys" & tires, found the Firestones at Tire Rack for $60ea. Already has 2 oil chngs & rotations. A great buy...

My wife and I each had crew cab, dually, Powerstrokes. When diesel hit $5 we sold my '94 4X2 and kept her '01 4X4. I stumbled onto my Ranger in Minneapolis and bought it for a song on my Uncles recommendation. I haven't looked back. Of all the trucks I have owned over the years- including Toyota and Nissan- this is my favorite.

When I got my Ranger, I was looking for a 4x4 to replace my '88 Bronco Eddie Bauer that had gone to hell on me. I owned that Bronco outright, and sold it to an aquaintance for I think $2500. I loved that Bronco, but, at 5'6" tall, I swam in it. So, I started looking at smaller trucks, and being a Ford Man, the only choise I saw was that Ranger. I bought it in 2001 (It's a 2000 model) with only 5000 miles on it.
I've had that truck nearly 10 years and have never had an issue with it. It's done everything I've asked it to do, handles snow very well with good tires, and no mechanical failures whatsoever.
I've only recently considered modding it, and so I've done a 60/40 Bench conversion to 40/40 Buckets. I've added a $30 console from walmart. And, God willing, I'll do a Tbar crank on it tomorrow.
I've been doing alot of thinking on what I want to do with it, and I've come to the conclusion that staying a little cheaper is going to be my best friend here. I don't have the ability to do the lift, or put tires together, myself, so I'll be taking it in to get that done. 4" superlift, likely 33x12.5x15 Toyo Open Country MT's on 15x10 Mickey Thompson Classics, or 15x8 ATX Chambers, not decided yet.
But, that'll be next tax return LOL. Meanwhile I've got some Realtree HD Grey sheets on the way for interior trim, and Realtree HD Grey seat covers. I need to replace the windshield, and get some new speakers.
The diecision to mod my truck came after talking with the wife about getting a new truck when I pay off her Exploder. I thought to myself, why get a new truck? I'll just make the one I have the way I want it!

Working on gathering parts, paint, vynals, and such for the rest of the build LOL. I use this as an everyday truck, but it's also the only truck I have for hunting and general off road fun. Hoping to make it much better than stock! PNW Crew!! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3865172 | | | |

Saw this one sittin in the showroom. My mom was gunna help me buy a reasonably price vehicle of my choice for a grad present. I saw the 06 and fell in love. The dealership had an incentive going where they would match your down payment to a certain point. She put down $500 and they put down $500. I've been paying it off ever since.

My truck was actually one of our family friend's truck. my dad had an 89 chevy s10. well that truck was giving us a bunch of trouble so our friend said she sell it to us. my dad took the offer without even seeing it!! she gave us a good price on it and my dad paid her and she brought it. i thought it was awesomest truck ever! 01 edge 4.0 v6 side step. he used it for work and going out to the ranch. after some time he got a new job that gav him his own truck. nice f250 superduty extended bed with huge tires. (not really the best truck for his job cuz its a 4x2 and most of his sites are down dirt roads and such) but we no longer used the ranger since my mom had a yukon my sister had a montero sport and i didnt have a license. so it sat for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. i had told my dad i wanted it but without a license i couldnt drive. i finally got my license but the truck wouldnt start -_- we took it to a friend whos a mech and he cleaned out the gas tank, put a new fuel pump and etc. of course we still didnt have tags. so i drived it as much as i could away from the city to get it back to normal (had a horrible shake which we later learned was due to sprokets) and one day i had a competition where we had to be at my school at 10 pm and would be back at 2am the next night. there was no way to take my moms van, so i thought id have to catch a ride with someone. well that night when i was all packed up and ready to leave my parents told me to take the truck (i was confused cuz earlier they werent letting me take it due to no tags) so my reply was "but it doesnt have tags" and hers was "are you sure? " just then my dad tossed me the keys and said "go take a look" yup... one of the happiest days of my life!! ever since then ive modded it a few and taken more care of it than i have of myself! yeah, thats my story haha
