Dad had a Ranger when I was growing up...I then wanted a truck, but didn't want the cost of a full size.

I had a 89 Topaz wrote it off baught an F150 wrote it off. Then I leased a Ford Focus took it into the Ford dealership for service saw my truck. Test drove it to kill sometime I had been looking at compact trucks of other brands. I liked the looks of the Ranger signed the papers to shut the salesman up he fallowed me around like a vulture. I did not think i could come home with it and poof got approved so my Ranger is an accident and a miracle that I braught home.

Grew up in a ford family. Dad always had ford trucks so when i got home from basic training i bouhgt an old 88 f 150. When it hit 278,000 miles i traded it 4 my 96 2wd and have never looked back. my 96 now has 253,000 and i have a 99 4 door 4x4 that will be with me for a long time. Man i love my truck. lol (is that sad to say that)

I had a pile of an F150 (long story, bad purchase, me being dumb ) as a 'daily driver,' but it wasn't very reliable. Finally sold it, and used that money to buy an S10 reg. cab 4x4. I liked it, and it was a good truck, but seemed small and not so 4x4-ish looking. Just when I was starting to think I wanted something else, it got totalled when I was rear-ended. A mechanic that goes to my church also goes to the local auto auction, and called me with this Ranger, even though he was trying to get me into a Trailblazer. At first I didn't think it was for me, then I thought I wanted a full size truck, but I've come to terms that A)This thing will get way better mileage than any full size gas truck I can afford, and B) I don't haul enough of anything to have a full size anyways. I'll just borrow my dad's F150 crew-cab
I've really loved how it handles anything I throw at it; I don't do any offroading, but it handles the occasional field that I go through well, not to mention the Michigan winters as well! Now I just have to decide if I feel like payin up the nose for some rust to get fixed so I can keep it a whole lot longer.

dad had a 84 b2 when i was a little kid. he would let me "drive." well more like steer and he would do the gas brakes and clutch.
later on he purchased a 88 standard cab short bed w/ 2.3 5 speed. thats what i learned to drive on.
ended up driving that truck for a couple years after i got out of high school.
i now own the truck in my avatar. dad still has the 88, but its missing the motor and the same 84 b2 is now a project of mine.

The laws here started to get retarded on speeding tickets, plus the roads look like afghanistan, having been badly burnt by gm, i started shopping for a Jeep Wrangler, my first off-roading love.
One night, my brother tells me about this huge ford ranger event and abducts me to go for a test drive. I stalled it 3 times (my current car has a short clutch and a short shifter, gimme a break! ;P), but i like the model. The guy was an *******, so i forget about it and return to my jeep shopping, but the thought remained in the back of my head (i also found this forum through the pics you guys posted); that lil pickup left a good impression.
2 dealerships later, i find a salesman who doesn't want to screw me over some options i don't want/need, and with ford's reputation on top of the price i'm paying, it was an easy choice.
Plus my uncle has one, and he looooves it so much.

Have always been a Ford driver. But the reason i got a ranger is because my pride and joy was sucking the funds right out of my wallet on a daily basis. I miss this truck

I got mine in 2001. I had a red stepside 98 2.5 and i loved the s*** out of it, but had to sell it for anonymity reasons...very recognizable truck. So I traded it in on my silver 98 just like it, only it's silver with a regular bed.
192,000 miles later, we're still happily married. I just got her a face lift, some lipo and a tummy tuck. It won't be long before we can get that boob job she's been wanting...maybe to a 302-dd. The 2.5 b-cups just aren't working for me anymore. =)

Well my 2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon was needing $5,000 min of parts and that's with me doing all the work. And the milage had racked up on the motor over the 7 years I had it. Figured I'd trade it in while I could get something back for it. I really wanted a 2010 Jeep JK Rubicon but was unwilling to pay $27,600 out the door (would have been my fifth Jeep had I bought it). So I needed another 4X4, tow ready, and I liked that the Ranger had more cargo / payload and tow capacity than the JK Jeeps. And it was much cheaper out the door at $18,140 for my 2010 FX4. There's nothing in the pickup 4x4 areana that can match it (not even the Mazda B Series) price wise in CND. As well Ford is pretty much the only one that didn't take any bail outs (I've always tried to keep my vehicle purchases North American if possible). I was a Ford Mechanic for 4 1/2 yrs. And have owned a F150, Mustang LX 5.0, Mercury Grand Marquis. My fathers had 4 Mustangs (still has One), my brother has a F250 and a Ranger. So I allready had a soft spot for Ford anyway.

I was looking for a 2.3 5 speed Mustang hatchback since it had room to haul stuff for my ebay business, but I couldn't find any so I started looking at Rangers since they're easier to find.
The Ranger had to be 2wd and 5 speed. I'm glad I got the v6 too because it has plenty of power.

My dad has always had Rangers. My Jetta died this winter and I was forced to daily drive my Audi.... Which was a huge pain in the ass. Waking up every day wondering if it was going to start, not to mention having to fill it with premium gas. Then the water pump went on the Audi so I put it away for the winter again (spring project) I burrowed my dad's truck (03 Ranger xlt 4x4) for a little while and decided I wanted one. Got my 03 Ranger xlt 4x4 a few months ago

I originally was getting mine as a second vehicle since my 2001 Honda CR-V was getting long in tooth and prevetative maintenance can only prevent so much and I need something with a bed for hauling items I would not want to put inside my SUV. A moment of inattentiveness and a sudden stop by a Dodge Ram 1500 in front of me ended that idea. For now, the Ranger is my primary driver until I can aquire another.
