a saturn. long story short, i was doing 65 in a 45 coming up on an intersection (had green light) girl in saturn thought she had the turning arrow to turn left (she was coming the opposing direction and was on the phone) and pulled out in front of me. i ran OVER the hood of her car and put my front left tire through her windshield and over the dash (pinning her inside the car) then rolled the rest of the way over the hood, landing in a field.

lol! I see. I just saw the headlight covers and realized they were in the same angle as the ones on your Ranger so I thought maybe it is the same one.

When my hitch in the army was up I wanted an inexpensive x-cab truck and the Rangers were the best of the 4 small trucks available. The Toyotas and Nissans were made of tin foil back then and the S-10s were just disappointing in almost all aspects. The Ranger was just the best truck for the money, and still is.

Had a 2000 Toyota Tacoma. It was recalled cuz of frame rot. Toyota gave me one and half times Kelly Blue Book value ... $11,800.00 sweet. Saw a picture on the internet of the 2009 Ranger - Torch Red, too sweet, traveled to South Jersey, saw it, drove it, loved it, bought it. Had it a month, very nice truck. Hope to have it a long time. I just love that Torch Red. Does anyone know if earlier year Ranger front mud flaps would fit on a 2009. I went to my local dealer and the parts guy says they don't make them for 2009 and 2008, wonder why.

Well I'm story brought me around the hard way. My parents finally allowed me to buy to my own car, and with the help of my grandparents (Bless them) gave me 5,000 dollars to start my search. My parents matched that and helped me look for my first car for college.

They did put some requirements as to what I could look for. Under 10,000 dollars, of newish year (06+) and with low miles. (Under 40,000) Now that was pretty tough to do. I knew for a fact I wanted a compact truck and here in Florida 90% of them are Rangers, which was not a problem because I really wanted anyway.

So I located a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT Auto 2WD. It fit all the requirements expect that it was a 02. Which my parents were able to overlook if the car was in good enough shape. It was a little worn on the inside and had a few dents. But it was enough to scare my dad away. He also did not want to buy from a used car dealer. He thought private party was the way to go.

So then I located a 2008 Ford Ranger Sport for 10,000 on the nose. It had 41,000 miles on the clock and from the craiglist ad, look flawless. So me and my dad made the trip down south to look at it. I drove it and loved it. My dad bargained the price down to 9,000 and said we would be back later with the money. We went down to the dealership for a Carfax on the Truck and they gave us an AutoCheck report (They said it was more detailed than the CarFax) and the truck turned out fine. So we went back and drove it home. That was the start of our problems. The truck at high speeds would rattle and shake. I'm amazed it came home in one piece. Anyways the next morning I looked under the hood inspected the engine mounts. The car was missing one. And to top it off, the frame was a twisted mess. So this time we ran a CarFax and not the AutoCheck. Turns out the car was classified a total loss, and had five owners before me. Anywho I machined a custom engine mount because the engine was so bad a normal new one would not fit. That fixed the shaking and rattle. However my dad wanted to get rid of the truck because it turned out to not have airbags.

We took it Ford the next week and asked for a trade in value. Now Ford ran the vin through Auto check and didn't find anything wrong and told us they would give us 14,000 for it. They didn't even drive it.

We said we'd consider it and drove to another dealer to see what they would quote. Well these guys were much smarter. They put it on a lift and told us we were SOL. They wouldn't buy it.

Back to the other dealer we went, traded it in for a new one, a nice redfire metallic Sport, and drove off. We ripped off a dealer. Felt great.

Anyways. Here is the 08 Sport. I should have noticed the front end and fogs before I bought it.

And here is my pride and joy, my 2011 Sport

I was looking at Colorados when they came out, but I wasn't about to buy new, then I ended up needing a new car when my Buick's head gasket took a dump–ended up with an Impala for a couple years…modded and upgraded that one along with learning a lot more about working on cars. Last year I decided to start looking at trucks again…not wanting an import or a "bailout brand" I opted for the Ranger. I test drove 7 before nabbing this one–with all of 47000 on the clock!

The morning after I bought it Details in the sig…

craigslist?

I wasn't looking for a ranger specifically, pretty much anything that wasn't a civic or a camry or something. I wanted a jeep or a truck most though and after seeing that all jeeps were either to expensive or way to bad on gas a truck it was. Found it near bye and fell in love.

The end
