After owning Chevy and Toyota trucks some years back and only cars since then. I know they are very solid reliable rigs. My Uncle has owned a dozen or so Ford trucks over the years.. Last one he sold had 300k on it and still running strong.. That was a F250 though.

Wanted a good little work truck so I went with a 98 Ranger XLT 2wd. Picked it up today.. Solid, clean, great running truck.. 153k on it

My dad bought an 87 standard cable with the 2.0 in 1992, loved the truck as a kid. Ended up totaling it out. He then bought a 81 Econoline, learned to drive in that Van. That one got rear ended buy a dump truck, and my mother drove 75 miles without oil in it and it still ran.. Grandpa gave us another 87 standard cab identical to the first one, got my license with that one... after putting 3k into my 86 celebrity wagon got tired of it and wanted a truck, saw an 87 xlt 4x4 on a lot and went and bought it... 4 years later after getting tired tracking down electrical problems and fuel issues, traded it for my 92 stx and love it... Miss all the Ranger that have gone to the junkyard in the sky.

On a sad note, my mother traded the second 87 Ranger in for an 07 colorado... the little guy just wouldn't die, still being drove around even after the oil rings and a host of other parts failing.

Kind of a Ford guy... Started with my Dad's 71 Stang... hated him for 5 years when he sold it...

I had a 97 Dakota 3.9L 2WD. I put 200K on it and got an electrical gremlin that I could not track down. I got sick of screwing with it and spending money so I decided to buy a new truck....Around that time Our Dear leader decided to take over the auto industry and completely ruined Chevrolet for me. Dodge was not an option due to the outrageous prices(and they took Govt funding too) and no Toyota for me..I just couldn't do the import thing...I know I know...some are made here..just the principle.
That brought me to my old nemesis Ford...I was never a ford fan..well, to be honest, I own a Camaro and the whole Camaro vs mustang thing etc etc.
I decided on the Ranger because A: the price I found could not be beat. B: my girlfriends Father has one and it has been a great truck.
To make a long story short, I didnt want to buy a Government motors vehicle or a Rice burner...and I fell in love with my Ranger.

Ford been in the family when I was younger, and I always wanted a truck. Well, I didn't see a point of having a full size truck, but wanted at truck.. When Ranger first came out, I would dream about having one as soon as I got my DL. Mom said no, you don't have the money.. After she showed me the price, and all the godo stuff, I knew I didn't have the money.

Fastforward, 5 years, I had to get a truck, and this S-10, I could not turn down the price.. Yikes, it was a lemon! (no wonder why it was cheap!) I was ready to trade it in for something, and saw the New designed Ranger in '93. Made a trip to the dealer, and left with a brand new Ranger that day! LOVED the truck!

After 5 years, I felt bad that my friends always had to drive, and I didn't.. So sold it. :-(

Now that I own a house, I got my Ranger again!

I needed a small truck, and I did not want to invest in Government Motors (GM). If things keep going the way they are GM will soon be the only authorized brand in the country formally known as America. Repeal and Remove.

It was time to trade in my 89 escort and stopped by a used car stealership one day. Saw a blue 94 Splash sittin' at the very back of the lot all by it's lonesome. 4.0, 5sp without the splash stripes. Test drove it and took it home. I beat the living snot out of that truck and it kept on going. 5yrs of driving and the only thing I ever did was change the oil, oil filter and air filter. Never broke down once.

Then one day I got a wild hair and traded it in for a 00 Focus ZX3. (Great little car until I tried to fit it under the back end of a Buick.) Long story and 3 cars (all Fords later I was able to get a 93 2.3l 5sp longbed. I love this truck. It has hauled anything that I can stuff in it and just keeps going even at 190k miles.

My next vehicle will be another Ranger to be my DD while I fixup/restore the 93. I hope one day to teach my 3 kids to drive a stick with it.

I got some money from my mom's death and my uncle was in control of the money until I was 21. So when I was 16, he allowed $5000 to buy a car. He didnt approve of anything I picked out. So I tried to buy my other uncle's 85 coupe deville, but he wouldnt sell it to me because he said he didnt want me to put n***** wheels on it...So he said he would sell me his ranger for $3500 (93 2wd 3.0 auot ext cab, white) I liked it, but I drove the shit out of it...Sold it at an auction for $2500 and drove various cars....Then when I my friend told me he was selling his ranger, I told him Id buy it before he finished his sentence. Loved the 4.0 and 5sp from the first time I rode in it.

Used to have a 92 honda accord but wasnt really practical for snowboarding and hated putting on chains. Started lookin for a truck once i turned 18 and really want a tacoma looked at a 2003 tacoma with 3 in lift with 178k miles and the dealer wanted 11995 for it and instead found 2003 ranger fx4 with 50k miles for cheaper..couldnt beat it plus its got more power

just have a stereo in it now that a pulled out of the honda and some 4x4 emblems off a frontier..was tired of people asking if its 4x4, looks rad and def gives it more 4x4 abilities..aha

They necessity is the mother of invention , well I was involved in a car accident were I was t-bone causing my car to be written off . With my injuries ,it turned out ,I could no longer drive a standard shift , I had no wheels . So I started looking for something cheap ,in fairly good shape , I found the current truck I have now , it met all the criteria that I needed .
I have never have owned a truck , with recently being separated , I can now build the truck I have always want to build

My grandpa gave me my first truck which was a Bronco 2. I was just 13. He wrecked it and was scared of it ever since. This is a man that has only wrecked like twice. Then He bought a 99 4wd 3.0 5 speed and he got to old to clutch it so he passed it down to me. Well my dad totaled it. So i bought another 99 ranger this time it was a 2wd and mine. Im the only one to drive it.

Default Re: What brought you to Rangers?

well what brought me to buyin a ranger were 2 things, 1st i was sick and tierd of repairing my car at the time which had 320,000km replaced 3 transmissions and a whoe slough of other parts (about $15000 worth of repair bills in 2 years) and the second reason im a ford guy natually i wanted to get a 88-93 mustang gt just couldnt find 1 in good shape at a good price, so then stated looking at trucks seeing how i live in alberta its almost a neccesity so after looking around for a month i found my 07 ranger sport and ended up paying 10 grand and it only had 20,000km on it, so far the mods are minor including a tonneu cover, window vent shade, and limo tint on the back 3 windows and eyebrow on the windshield, panasonic head unit, rockford T1001bd amp, powering 2 Alpine type R v2's (deck and amp are dead now)
