In general I'd say pass too. 200k on a 4x4 could be a hard 200k. Price IMO is steep. Personally, I'd hold off.

Should I pass it over and wait for another Ranger to come along in 4x4 with the manual trans (which, I've come to find, is a pretty hard-to-find combination)? Or do Rangers last pretty long past 200,000 miles? I always thought 200,000 was right around when most vehicles started to kick the bucket. But what do I know? What do you all think? I appreciate your input | I have a 2000 Ford ranger and it has 203,000 miles on it .it is a v-6 flex fuel 3.0 wit automatic trans. I use it as a work truck. It runs great I have had to do little repairs on it . However i also change the oil on a regular basis. I say if it runs good and was well maintained go for it

I can go either way. They can be pretty hard miles since it is a 4x4. But at the same time I've seen plenty of rigs run well past 200000. Maintenance is the key. As soon as you get it I'd say do a basic tune up, plugs, wires, oil, flush the radiator, change the belt. Then I'd make sure the timing chain (belt) I don't know which it has gets changed. Check compression on the cylinders too, make sure you don't have a dead one. I'm not afraid of 200000 but you might need to do a lot of work at that point to keep it on the road. 2000 is a little much in my opinion for a price as well.

If one can keep a Saturn running for 3 years, a Ranger will be no problem. =)

The miles wouldn't bother me that bad. I just looked at a Ranger that had almost 300,000 on it. I also would not give $2000 for it. The person selling it will have a hard time getting that out of it simply because so many people are afraid of high mileage. I would say a max of $1500 but I am one that likes to find really good deals so I wouldn't consider it a really good deal til it was around 12-1300 dollars.
