I stayed up this morning and started watching another episode of Stacey David's Gears and it came on concerning the cash for clunkers program. I think this program was a big, fat JOKE! Basicly once declared a clunker you couldn't slavage anything concerning the engine, emission equip and ecu. The program also stated that salvage yards only had 90 days to get any and all salvagable parts and then it went strait to the crusher. Basicly the way I see it most people who got into this program came out behind in the long run rather than come out ahead. Plus anytime you buy a car or truck and you restore it with more modern equipment I consider that recycling. Also it really hurt the aftermarket industry because with each car or truck crushed, someone's or even maybe a few someone's job or jobs went with it. I think this program should've ended sooner than it did. Because not everyone can go out and buy a new car or truck on a daily basis. Plus alot of businesses closed due to this program because their main business involved the used cars that were declared clunkers.

Back when CFC was going on I came across this video. This car does not look like a clunker to me. I think the program was a horrible idea. To be honest, watching this vid pissed me off. That car could have lasted for years to come.

They fill the block with glass pellets or something like that, its needless. I understand that the program looked good on paper, but hell, so does Communism.

i agree. it was a big joke. i can't wait for 6 more months. the repo man is gonna be the best job out there. i wouldn't trade a well running car, that is probably paid off, for a brand new car, with car payment, higher insurance, etc for 3-4 mpg more. hell, i couldn't afford to if i wanted to.

but i'm with others, i scored a ton of good, cheap parts from it.
