Re: Took my ranger "offroading" got stuck
Know your limits. That's how you keep yourself from getting stuck. 4x4 or 4x2, it doesn't matter.
Of course, there are those few people who love to get stuck and throw rooster tails, and to them I say throttle the fuck out of it.

I just got the truck, have yet to get new tires for it, nor do i intend to do off-roading at all. I just wanted to try and see if it would make it down and back up, which i didnt. So no need for sarcasm or talking down, you just seem like a douchebag

Re: Took my ranger "offroading" got stuck
Oh well, it was fun up until the point i got stuck so it was successful to me. Plus i learned a lot hahaha so i dont make the same mistake in the future. But I do intend putting bigger tires on it because i love the look of it. Not sure how big/brand/style but ill cross that bridge when i get to it.

not bigger. that makes no difference for a backyard. just knobbier/better tread.

i go more places then most 4x4's do, a locked 2wd on good tires with a great driver will do anything you want it to

Come up to North Dakota in the winter, you wont go anywhere in a 2wd rear wheel drive truck. No matter how great of a driver you are.

come up to Canada, its worse than ND, and 2wd is fine if you stay on the roads and know how to drive. only times i used 4x in my truck was when i was blazing trail down backroads and after ice storms when there is 2" of glare ice on the highways.
that being said, a 2wd truck is never as good as a 4x4 truck.
you cant look at it as driver skill only. sure, a 2wd truck with a good driver can do more than a 4x4 with a bad driver, HOWEVER, that same 4x4 truck with a good driver will do a hell of a lot more than a 2wd truck with a good driver.

Re: Took my ranger "offroading" got stuck
I've owned 2wd, 4wd and AWD trucks. I prefer 2wd. I have beat the Guts out of several 4wd trucks I have had. Can't resist putting them places that only my Wildcat should be.
Say what you want... but my first vehicle was a 2wd Ranger and I had that thing everywhere. It was covered in mud so many times I could not even tell you. So covered you couldn't tell what color it was. I got stuck only a couple times. Its all in the tires and driver. If you "need" 4wd to drive through a field then you need to learn to drive.
I never even put my 4WD trucks in 4wd until I am almost stuck. Then I use 4wd to get back out. Just my $.02
