That price isn't totally off base, you could probably work with him on that one. Of course, I live in the corner of the US where pickups are outrageously popular and ownership is high, so I'm used to higher than usual prices. Call that guy, cook up a deal.

I got sidetracked from rangers when my co-worker said she's selling her 1967 mustang with a 289 V8. Its completely staight, no dings or dents, no rust, chrome is in perfect condition and primered ready for paint. And its cheaper than the FX4.
