It just does this when the truck is off and not when I'm driving so it's have to fill the water every other day.
Irritating.

Sounds like a cracked head and the coolant is pouring into the exhaust, and being sucked up into the EGR. Because it's so hot out you wouldn't necessarily see the steam

Right thanks. I'll check the heads. Hopefully I caught it early. Engine has been running fine otherwise.

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
Well he started up normally; I put him into drive and moved 2 feet before the engine died and a zapping noise and a large cloud of white smoke and burning plastic came from under the hood. I stopped immediately and shifted to neutral and backed into the parking spot.
Apparently a green wire on the thing in the picture that's attached to the distributor had for some reason decided to peel away it's protective cover and touched a metal tube on the engine block and there was just an awful burning electrical plastic smell and smoke coming from it.
Had AAA tow me home. Guess I'll have to get whatever that is in the picture. Hope it ain't like $300 or something stupid.
Can someone tell me what that black box is that has a cord running to the distributor?

Hate that I can't figure out why my power Windows don't work. Can't find a broken wire, tried a different switch, fuses look good, window motors work.. at least my ac works.

Thanks. Turns out that and the entire distributor is broke and I have a cracked cylinder head. Won't be driving the truck for a long while. Guess It needs a new motor now............................................... ........

There's a possibility you have a little corrosion in a wire. But it's probably just your switch.

I'll check the switch again, any idea where the relay is?

Its around page 142 in your owners manual. But a test light/mulitmeter would be the best bet to see if you are getting the right amount of power to the switch.

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
What I hate about mine today is the front timing chain guide went out! 83683.2 miles! Never been abused, regular service intervals, Motorcraft filters and Synthetic oil. Really sucks. What really sucks is that now I read where the guide tensioners start failing at around 70,000 or so. Had I known that I would have replaced them and maybe, just maybe not have this problem. I did read somewhere before I just got sick of all the bad news I was finding there was a supposed TSB on it to get it fixed but didn't check into it since it would not apply now.

I'm running 120000 and no problems so far. Seems to be a hit or miss with those.
