That's what I'm afraid of because I am also getting p0171 & p0174 codes the light comes on when I accelerate I've been told that can be my fuel pump as well

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
I had to do the pump to get rid of the 171-174 codes on my 3.0L. Don't know about the 4.0L.
A tip, try the easiest cheapest fix first: fuel filter.
Another tip: when going for the pump, if you can, pull the bed, don't drop the tank.

171, 174, lean bank codes, are set off by the upstream O2 sensors reading too much O2 in the combustion mix.
Try searching for threads on those codes specific to the 4.0. Lots of people have dealt with them and discussed their experiences.

Thanks but surrendered and took her to a shop to diagnose it. I looked at those threads none of those were the problem tried most of those repairs. So what I hate about my Ranger today is that I don't have her!

That it's been off the road for a few months and the rear brakes are hanging up a bit

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
You can always remove/bypass the sensor and reflash the ECU to balance your fueling issues with running ethanol.....just saying.

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
i hate my airbag light that stays on.. thinkning about either replacing the module (cause mine apparently the light is burned out from unplugging it) or snipping the light in the dash lmao

just count the gears when you drive haha. if it shifts 4 times and seems to be revving higher, its not on. 5 times, its on then just push the button accordinly. then it wont change unless ou hit the button again!
