Unless you are going to be towing or hauling a lot, I'd go with the 3.73. On the highway at a normal speed, say 75mph, my 4.0 with 4.10s turns at almost 3000 rpm. depending on area... Over in wa 3.73 were hard to find 4.10s were all over the local junkyards as to mpg's I didn't notice much, maybe .5 to 1mpg loss that's on a 98 xlt 3.0 on 32s bone stock

What I hate about my ranger is that it is not starting and I don't know what is wrong. It's back firing, and not turning over.

That it's a 2wd but who cares, i'll put 32" A/Ts in the rear and maybe it'll help it.

I hate that it's only a single cab without the tilt steering option.. I'm a tall big guy so that means that I end up driving with one knee in the steering wheel and the other gets hit by the gear lever when I go into second lol I also hate that it's rear wheel drive because I live in a hill in Ohio and can't get any traction without 400 pounds in the bed (tube sand)

Idler Pulley, and timing belt that I got on Saturday, because of how much money it all cost! lol unfortunately my old truck wasn't very well taken care of in the years before I owned it, pulleys were all worn so badly that the timing belt decided it just didn't want to stay connected any longer, while I was driving (fyi, Never go to PepBoys unless you absolutely have to, they'll siphon your wallet real quick)

Exactly. I hate those people but they were the only properly equipped mechanics within 25 miles that I could afford to have the truck towed to that's the one and only reason I ever take it there is if it has to be towed and I can't afford to have it taken where I want.
