Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
I hate that my tired old '03 FX4 is getting older in spite of my tender-loving care.
That, and the fact that I can't buy a new one.
I want a little truck with a big engine; not a big truck with a little one.

I got a 1994 4.0L 6 Cylinder.... It had been over heating and yesterday it just poured out water... But from where?! I replaced the lower radiator hose which had a whole in it, I replaced the radiator itself because it had a whole in it, & I even replaced the thermostat.... Where could the water be coming from?! Is it the water pump??? Ahh I just wanna scream.

lower intake gaskets Are a common spot on the OHV 4.0

The ball joints are constantly wearing out! I'm sure it has more to do with the terrible roads in NJ than the truck but this is going to be the third set of tie rods since I got the truck. Replaced the upper ball joints twice and the lower balls once as well. Used MOOG serviceable but the boot keeps ripping. I swear the trails around here are a smoother ride than the streets.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I just paid $15 for a shop to figure the problem out and they told me the water pump needed to be replaced (while this is true, that is not where the leak came from) and the timing cover needed to be replaced. They also told me the radiator cap was bad. I know a radiator cap regulates a pressurized system, so I'll start there first. I'm thinking that maybe the system wasn't working right because of the messed up cap, so I'm starting there first. I've heard that can be an issue also. What's your knowledge on radiator caps?

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
Stock cooling system? Don't exceed the pressure rating or all kinds of gaskets will be failing. My four banger calls for a 13lb cap. So I wouldn't go to a 15lb cap.more is not always better!

OEM wrangler rt/s tires suck. Lowered psi to 30 and they still can't get traction when it rains.

The fact that I still have oem rt/S wranglers, and the fact that they're literally missing chunks of tread all over from juat a few trips out to the hils. The fact that I now have to spend like 500+ dollars on the set of 31s I want. Oh and the fact that my check engine light is on. (P0401 EGR Insufficient Flow) and the fact that I need tires so I can't afford to get EGR fixed and don't know how to do it myself. I hope I'm not doing damage by postponing the egr thing.

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
I hate that my front brakes are worn out. Passenger side front hit the wear indicator on my way to work yesterday, so now the brakes sound like hell. Decided to park it until I can get around to changing out at least the front brake pads and rotors on Sunday.
I'm thinking the rears are probably fine since I just replaced them 30k miles ago, but while I'm working on it, I'll check them out too.

Re: The "what do you hate about your Ranger today" thread
I hate that I just changed the plugs, wires, cleaned MAS, cleaned throttle body, replaced hoses and thermostat, flushed coolant and now this!
radiator let loose! yay!
