How come everyone hates on the 3.0 but no one ever mentions the 2.9? xD

I think the rangers should have come standard with the 5.0 but thats just my opinion.

2000 Ford Ranger. It has the 4.0 EFI OHV motor. It is an automatic 4 speed with overdrive. It is lifted 7 inches (3" body, 4" suspension). It has 35/12.50/16.5 tires. The rims are Weld Racing Rims. It has a cold air intake.

Apparently so lol but my 3.0 is still running. In fact I believe I have the first year there were 3.0s and I have no problem with it. It's reliable and has enough power for me right now. Never has given me any trouble at all doesn't burn oil, leak or anything. I thought the was a Ranger owners site for everyone. Not just Ranger owners with 4.0s. Every should just get along

Or at least made it an option. Never understood why they never did offer a 5.0 in them. Especially the Ranger GT

Its a mustang gt in my mind , lol. I tell people all the time most trucks are not built for quick 0 to 60 and top notch acceleration.

Horsepower isn't what kills the 3.0. It's the limited amount of torque.

I'm pretty sure I didn't cry. I listed numerous points, and that was it. I had a 2.5 previously, and that motor was still better than the 3.0, even with 189,000 miles. I will eventually buy a 4.0 and swap it in my Ranger, and I'm 100% positive it too will be better than my 3.0.

Man, now I know what DJ feels like when he talks down the Ranger.

You just listed a bunch of things to call the 3.0 bad but haven't really said one good reason why it is a bad engine.

And no the torque argument its not a good reason.
