That its not an extended cab, has a 7.5 rear and no A/C. Its gonna be tough driving the ranger in the summer without A/C.

That the motor blew up and its gonna cost 2k to fix, my rear end leaks like a bastard, It has a 4 Speed Auto, the doors have rust on them, transmission lines are rusted, need a new driver-side front bearing, the speakers suck, gas mileage, broke the sway bar, power steering sounds like a fisher cat, the seat has a stain, BUT...... The clock WORKS!!!!!!!

If this was true and the 3.0 is a.pos then why does mine have 257,xxx miles on it and still runs like a champ? And how come I can haul 6,000 lbs. trailers and still keep up with traffic at the the speed limit on the interstate?

This is all true. Those 3.0 guys defend these things to the end... we all know the truth and so do they. Trying to defend that motor is like trying to defend a tiny pee pee, everyone knows its worthless... the owner just refuses to believe it.

It isn't worthless if it has only one big flaw to it, which is little compared to most other engines made, and that flaw being the cam synchronizer. Other than that the engine is a beast. And will last forever when maintained. Its certainly more reliable than the 4.0.

I own a 4.0 and dont understand the 3.0 beat down that constantly goes on
dont get me wrong i love my 4.0 but damn ease off the 3.0
My older 4.0 was rated at what? " 160 hp (119 kW) and 225 lb·ft (305 N·m)"
and teh 3.0 is ... "power rating of 140 hp (100 kW) and a torque rating of 160 lb·ft (220 N·m)."
so my 4.0 is damn close to the 3.0 ....oh no does that mean i am part of the 3.0 crowd?
edit: i hate that my ranger should have the newer SOHC with a rating of "210 hp (157 kW) and 254 lb·ft "
