It was WAY too expensive to replace all that (perfectly working) stuff. We gave up & returned it to Canada & sold it. We had to buy a car made in USA. Maybe there are fewer diffs these days, but I doubt it.
Yeah my stepmom is Canadian and we tried to bring over her rust free 91 Nissan 240sx and we couldn't because it didn't have the auto-retract seatbelts like the American ones did. That among other things.

A few years ago, one of my cousins took a '49 GMC from oregon to canada. All they needed to do was rig up DRL's. I don't think the thing even had seat belts in it. I know it didn't have a rear bumper.

They also needed to convert and set the distance traveled to be in miles based on the distance shown on the metric speedometer. Guess what the fuggers that were importing those vehicles were doing and no, there was no math error either.....................

*Careful on Canada vehicles, some of them spend a whole lot of time idling in the winter, thanks to their living in a hostile, cold location. Just like in a taxi cab, idle time = wear and they don't put hobbs meters on pickups at the factory to record this and it won';t be on the speedo either. Buyer beware and do your homework.

My buddy discovered BOTH of these fails on that RAM.

Not all Canada is a frozen tundra. Parts of Ontario are actually south of parts of many of the northern states, and have the same weather. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are both mild along the seacoast. Now if you're talking Yellow Knife, yepper, that's bad!!

^^^Yup, that's where I threw in the cold winter and do your homework disclaimers. Homework like carfax and a check on OASIS (OASIS, for service/warranty history). If you're in kahoots with someone that works at a Ford dealer, they can tell you the name of the original selling dealer (ie, history hint).

If the prior owner registered in the truck in the US then he will not have any problem with registration. People move all the time and they are permitted to register a Canadian registered vehicle in the US.

Gary said, "I'm looking at buying a 2008 Ranger that was originally purchased new in Canada, then the owner relocated to the US, bring the truck with them. It's been registered here."

It's already registered is the US, so any concerns about odometer/speedometer conversions, window glass safety, and what else, has been blessed OK, or changed to meet regulations. Otherwise no registration possible.

Just take it out for a test drive and see if reading the mph in smaller size next to the kph is OK for you. DRL may have been changed, but easy enough to see if they were left as is. The odometer reading would have been in kms and would need to verify what the "true" mileage is.

Other than that, good luck on your purchase.
