Just bought 93 Ranger

This ranger has the 4.0L v-6. The engine starts and runs smooth until it starts to warm and then water vapor pours out the exhaust. I realize a headgasket is the cause and would like to tackle the job myself. This is where it gets tricky...I've never worked on fuel injected vehicles before and do not know what to expect. I have worked on a number of engines over the years and trust my judgement but do not want to get over my head and wind up spending $$$ to save pennies. Is there a good reference manuel that has good diagrams/pictures? Any help would be appreciated. I am new to this forum but not to owning Fords.

This doesn't cover the head gaskets, but you will have to tear into some of this to get at the head gaskets...

(I did this job myself over the winter, wasn't to bad)

A good manual is Haynes, they're pretty descriptive and have some good pics....it's what I would reccomend!

it is rather easy as long as you can remove and install the part were they came from it is be really easy. the only thing is torque the head bolts. You should also check the heads for warping. I would get a set or 98tm head a stonger head and you will see 30hp increase. i have a set if you can't find one

ur first time is always a learning experience. they are not hard, just the amount of engine parts that come off in the process. it may seem hard, but its easy if you have a haynes repair manual you can pick up at any auto parts store.
