I asked someone today and the said that the 289 would be better because it would have less problems but I am not sure.
Honesty, you're going to have to research the problems associated with each engine you want, then search the forums to see if anyone else has done the same swap.

As for the sputtering, it could be a number of things, it could even be something simple that wouldn't really need a whole new motor.

Alright well thanks. Which do you prefer lowered ranger and lifted ranger?

I prefer a lifted ranger, but I don't like them very high, I'd rather lift it about 2 inches, and stuff some beefy tires under there with an offset. Then they're super pretty and squat.

Yea haha I am trying to get a blue flame on black paint job done on mine and I am probably gonna lower it
