Default 1999 Ranger Modification list, Cheap way.

So as I've stated, I'm new to the forums. Background info to my truck is here; 1999 Ranger, Pushin 306k miles .

I'm making a little to-do/ modification list for my truck, and I want this thing to be the most bad ass little rig around, and Somethin' tells me I'm going to need a Little help, so if you've got any suggestions I have tons of questions.

P.S. Before I start this list, I figured this would be the appropriate section for this thread, if it's not, Please do tell and I will attempt to move it.

Okay so first of all, My truck has 300k miles on it, and the body, exterior and interior shows. My bed is rusted out, I have tons of dents from moving things to having people hit me backing out (school parking lots, the most Dangerous place in the world to be a pedestrian I swear on my life, especially when everyones trucks are lifted 5'...) and even the previous owners (parents) running it into things accidently. So to start off my list;

- I'm going to want to replace the bed. Its a 1999 I've been told its as easy as bolt on.
- Touch up on the rear corners of the cab where loads have scraped my truck.
- A new driverside door, or maybe just remove it and hit the dents out with a mallet.
- A reconstruction and replacing of the right side mirror (the factory spring went shotty and it has floppy-mirror syndrom...)
- Some sort of real apoxy to remount my rear view mirror (fell off bottoming out...)
- *** Replace my shifter (yes its clutch) with a bud light tap I got from a bar, I know i'd have to remove the console, but would I need to rethread it, would I just weld it, would it be durable enough to withstand the rough shifting?? Etc...
- Do something along the lines of this; 1999 Ranger, Pushin 306k miles to neaten up my grille, and maybe the lights.
-Replace my carpet, and the little mesh catch thing in the back that holds your stuff??
- Replace the dome light ( Getting sick of hitting my head on wires and crap)
- Re-Bending my front fender, the left side sags for some reason, its bent...? Also, once I figure out how to do that, maybe Re-attaching the plastic one that goes beneath?
- Getting rid of that stupid WHOOOOOSHHH Noise that my Ranger makes when I revv it, or just drive... Does anybody actually know why that happens? I've been told 200,000 things, and mostly about my fan... People think it doesn't disengage after 35ish mph, and it just keeps spinning and that the blades are warped making that noise but I don't know...
- Figuring out how to fit a 10-12" sub into the car without compromising space...
- Getting new seats all up front
- Finding a new exhaust system
- Figuring out how to align my truck (it is just wanna know.)
- Replacing the fuel LINE (Bastard mechanic jammed his spare NON-usuable filter on my line, and that was ~100kish miles ago...)
- Fixing ebrake cables (stuck on...)
- Figuring out why even when I park it in gear it still rolls past the initial thud on hills...
- Replacing the right door Rain-guard plastic piece on the window.
- An exterior Light Rack
- Maybe a toolbox

And that's just off the top of my head. Anyone have any ideas other than maybe lifting it to make it more of a beast? Like I said its a list of things to do, right now as you can see its a beater haha

Get some pics posted up when you get a chance, it will help a lot.

Bed, six bolts holding it in.

Mirrors, swap for the more solid ones like this:

For the dome light, swap to a mustang/f-150 or explorer dome light.

Just a quick hit on some of your list...

Pix up, Thanks for the tips ! Would it be complicated with the whole fuel line crap and tanks or are those on the frame not even the bed??
The dome light is a must as well ! I've been going by phone light now for 4 years riding in that truck haha
And the mirror, its on that picture where the tires off, I got the flimsy stock ones :/

IIRC all the lines are ran on the frame rails...

The mirror I posted is an OEM Ranger mirror as well and will bolt right on and you won't have floppy mirror syndrome anymore!

I believe the OEM shifter ball is just pressed and glued on, so just drill a hole in the tap the right diameter and press it on would be my guess.

I just have tabs not a bar. One light on each tab held one with the bumper bolts. Easy bolt on.

Eh I'm kinda pissed lol I got my truck jacked up the otehr day (right side), and I noticed that not only was my sway bar joint rusted and disconnected because the bolt broke off (common I've heard), but i noticed that the metal jinglin' noise was a blown shock on my right front lol... I'm craigslistin' it as we speak and I've found entire 4wd shock sets for 10$ but I need specs lol.

Not trying to discourage you or anything...But if I were you, I would get a new canvas to work with. Yours just sounds like too many repairs to even begin the modding proccess...Nothing sounds cheap about fixing your truck up. Maybe try to find one with a little less rust and less miles than 300k?

Eh That I'd do but the cash flow I'm workin' with here only replaces parts, won't buy a new truck... Hell I figured that it'd give me some experience with fixin' stuff anyway

Well, in that case, good luck and have fun. You will have a lot more pride in it when its done than if you bought a brand new stang I bet. Wish I could see photobucket pics on this damn work comp.

Tons of potential. I bought my truck totaled and felt 100x better when i looked at the final product. I have a set of those mirrors that Justin showed you for sale at the end of this month if you wanna buy them

The nice thing about trucks with the bodies already banged up is that it's easier to strip 'em down, give them a flat O.D. or Tan spray-can paint job, and then let the trail beat the crud out of them then if you had a shiny new truck. Mine still looks pretty pristine, so I tend to be a little bit more squeamish about rocks and sticks and stuff when off-roading then I probably should be...

Good luck with your project!
