thank you. You understand. Mr. 2011 sport over there doesn't

tis true......

everything is done on a much larger scale nowadays.... we cant compare equipment from the 50's to equipment in 2013.... to try to keep it simple back then there was not nearly as many people on the planet.... so there was not nearly as many goods or people traveling from point a to point b.... there was not walgreens and walmarts on every corner that needed 20 truckloads of goods delivered a week..... so yea equipment from back then cannot do what equipment from today does cause it wasnt necessary, surely the technology was there but there was no demand for a king cab sleeper semi with a 53' trailer..... werent the original "semis" basically large sedan delivery trucks about 30' long total if that?

ahh le sigh.....

Just because a small truck that delivers everything a large truck does, has not been produced yet, does not mean its impossible to create. Use your Brain guys seriously. Large does not always mean strong. Heavy does not always mean better.

Even if a beefy powerful midsize truck exists, its still better from a physics standpoint to pull a toyhauler with a 1 or 2 ton truck.

Looks like you are on your own here 2011_Sport, physics is physics brother, no way around it. Also, trucks really arent any bigger than they were say 35 years ago or so. My father owns two mid 70's fullsize Fords, one F-150 and an F-250 and dimensions wise they are no bigger or smaller than my 2005 F-150. Yes engineering and modern steel technology has made today's 1/2 ton and up trucks far more capable than their older counterparts in many ways but simple physics is still the limiting factor in towing/ payload, no way around it. Considering I own both a Ranger and an F-150 I have the ability to directly compare them to each other in the capability department. I used to tow my 6X12 enclosed toy hauler all the time with my Ranger, it pulled it awesome or so I thought. The same trailer loaded the same behind my F-150 its like its not even back there and Im not even just talking about the go power, Im talking about braking power and all around stability. My F-150 weighs approx 2200 pounds more than my ranger, is wider and has a longer wheelbase, all of which is critical for stable towing. I pull a 30 foot long 7000+ pound loaded travel trailer that I wouldnt dream about pulling with my Ranger, its just not enough truck.

Also, this is a word for everyone. Knock it off with the name calling and insults, my posts prove that you can have a discussion and disagree with each other without name calling.

LJTyre, I am in 100% agreement with your statement. But you have to take into effect that something could be engineered better than the other. I'm not saying build two exact same trucks, only make one smaller and expect It to perform more work. I'm saying you could engineer the smaller one to perform better than the larger one. Do you understand what I'm getting at?

No, no one understands what youre getting at because its not physically realistic and makes no sense, seriously.

01 ranger, your assessment of towing is a valid one obviously. However, are you saying then that either of your two trucks are perfected in design?!Is there no room for improvement? Are they the pinnacle of today's technology?

Could I not design a small truck using the best of engineering technologies today, that would tow better than your 2005 ford f-150?

What we are saying is that REALISTICALLY, if ford were to make a pinnacle ford ranger, they would make a ford 150 a step up, just because its bigger. If you made the same suspension twice but one is bigger, the bigger one would prevail. That's how life is.

Im only going to say this one more time but NO! Please study up on physics man. You cant engineer your way around physics, you just cant.

until you do so and they make it, who cares, you're chasing a pipe dream here

obviously anything is possible.... you could probably make a device as small as a pack of cigarettes that people can browse the information superhighway on and make phone calls and look up porn and text and take pictures....... oh wait.......

What I'm saying is no current production truck is perfected. There is room for improvement in every aspect. The best technologies and materials that we have today are not used in mass produced trucks for obvious reasons, the main one being cost. Given that information you could design something as compact as the ranger using the best of materials and production tecnologies the earth has to offer and it would out perform the larger truck at a reduced size.... Does that make sense now? Or shall I explain my point a different way?

Times have changed..equipment has changed...the need to tow such equipment has changed....i gave u examples in my previous posts....

No way a 1950s truck would tow a huge 5th wheel trailer loaded down with bobcats, skidloader, and a backhoe...

No way it would even tow my dads 16' enclosed trailer full of stuff....

Our rangers can tow more than what the trucks of the 1940s-50s could probably tow...

Ragertom, the reason I'm debating this is because other members are telling me something is impossible. I understand that what I'm saying isn't going to happen anytime soon. What I'm simply saying is it can be done.

This is a huge autmated packing machine that packages cereal into cases.....it weighs a lot....it needs a huge semi with a drop bed to haul it across the country....
This is an example of something that wasnt done back in the day..
