It's funny that this thread came up. Ford released not too long ago that 2012 was the best selling year for the f150.... I WONDER WHY?!

I have herd numerous reasons why the ranger was dropped in north america, but my personal theory is that they got to expensive, you can buy a base f-150 for less than most ranger trims. Also, is it jut me or has anyone else noticed that light trucks no longer exist, the tacoma is huge, as is the dakota and colorado, that why our older rangers and othe makes of small trucks are so popular... There small. If I was on the design team at ford i would offer as a base model a reg. Cab short bed coupled to the turbo 4 in the focus and a six speed manual. Offered in 2 or 4 wd and try to get the mpg around 38 on the highyway with a starting price around 15k. Then option it up for buyers that want the good stuff. I would buy that truck.

Ford quit offering the Ranger in the USA, to force us to buy the larger expensive F-150...cuz they want to gouge our wallets...and some people actually fall for it coughcouchDJcoughcough.. I believe the Ranger will be back...in some form, someday....someday..

Ford stopped making them because it wasn't profitable enough. Do you really think they would have killed the platform if it was selling really well?
I don't want a full sized truck but that doesn't mean I don't understand why they canned the ranger
