Default Crisis of Ranger confidence

I have a confession to make. Over the past few months I've had thoughts....dreaming of a new truck. Dreaming of finally taking the plunge into F150 land.

I guess it all started at deer camp last year when one of our party showed up in a brand new ecoboost. Set me to thinking about how much comfort, space, towing/hauling ability I could have if I traded up. I started ramping up my research, doing some looking around, and spec-ing out trucks in my spare time.

I felt guilty the whole time though. Like I was cheating on my Ranger with a younger, hotter mistress.

Well I recently decided I'd strayed down the wrong path. I'm sticking to this truck like glue from here on in. I'm going to keep nursing it and rebuilding it. I'm gonna drive it till the odometer craps out and I can't tell how many miles are on it. This truck has honestly been the best vehicle I have ever owned. No major malfunctions. Never failed to start. I've put the engine through hell and it's never once broken down. All the work I've done to it has been preventative. It's been faithful to me and I have to return the favor. There will come a day when this truck will die, like all things eventually do. And then I'll get a full size truck. But I'll probably never get the chance to own an old Ranger like this again, so I'm going to make the absolute most of it.

Any of you ever 'cheated' on your Ranger and felt bad about it? Or am I finally going off the deep end

I should have thought of that.

If the worst that happens to me is I have a truck that lasts forever, there are way worse things that could happen

A good six years ago i sold my 94 ranger xlt for 1800. It had 236k miles on the odometer and engine still ran strong. It needed a new exhaust, tranny was ifffy about to go i , check engine light on , could of kept it swap exhaust and trranny and it would of ran like a champ. Up to date i regret selling it. After that rranger i had a v8 tundrra that llet me down... tranny loked up. Fixed it and traded it in for a new 2010 ranger never let me down. Ive neever selling it. It has 110k miles yup thats right. I do the lots of maintenance and its eager to take those long tripss to work. I drive it in 120 degree weatherr ac full blast and it dont backdown.

Cheating on a truck? You are going off the deep end, it's just a truck.

It's like the old saying "Guns don't kill, it's the gun owners who do"
Rangers don't die, it's the owners who let the Rangers die.

Congrats on not drinking the F150 koolaid. If you ever do get a fullsize you should get one that's not a ford. Those fools don't deserve any Ranger owner's loyalty.
Another way to show them your middle finger is to drop a 5.0 in your Ranger .

I cheated on my old ranger... drank the "f150 koolaid" lol. worst investment I ever made. I traded it for a ranger again and I couldn't be happier. I'll eventually get a fullsize again, because a ranger isn't a family vehicle. But I definately wont by an F150, I'm very disappointed in fords quality on them, it will be a chevy for me!!

So I guess that makes my F350 a 40oz?

But I kept my Ranger, although I've been contemplating selling it. I don't want to, but I don't trust it the way I used to.
