Default Its been fun

Its been fun with my ranger. However my next truck is going to be something else. F-250 or higher. I want to get the 6.4L V8 turbocharged diesel engine, with 6spd manual. It has to be used because the 2011 and beyond won't have the manual anymore. The ranger is okay, but it is small and only has a 4L V6. With the combination of 4x4, the V6, and the auto trans fuel economy blows. So at least with the large engine there is an acceptable trade off. Decreased fuel economy for major increases in power. 350 hp and 650lb ft of torque vs 207hp and 236lb ft of torque.

good luck with your f 250 or 350, but i hope you live on a farm or are towing something over 10,000lbs because there is no need for a truck that big for a kid of 21. be smart, get an f 150. also, expect gas mileage of 9-13 with the 250 or 350
and diesel is generally 50-70 cents higher than regular gas.

Thanks. I must disagree though. I am getting 15 city and 19 highway in a ranger. So its not to much worse. No I don't live on a farm. I live in North Jersey. So there are no farms up here. Except garden centers, but those are wannabe farms. Yes diesel fuel is more expensive. However, the diesel engine is up to 40% more fuel efficient than its gasoline counterpart. As far as towing 10,000lbs. You are right I would never need that. Even if I was towing trailers, I still more than likely would never need 650lb ft of torque.

I know if I want something other than a Ranger, I'd only go 3/4 ton based on looks, I don't care for any of the looks of the 1/2 ton right now, except for maybe a Ram. But, since I live in the city, have no need for hauling 10,000#, and all that stuff, I'm stickin w/a Ranger for now. I know if I wanted a heavier duty truck, I'd look for one of the Ford F250's that had the F150 styling from a few years back. Nice in between combo, I thought.
