Re: son of a pita....
Some accidents can not be prevented...however most can. Its called defensive driving.
Based off the way you described the situation, you could have prevented what had happened. Hundreds of people drove over that same spot before you, and it was probably frozen over at the time. It didn't immediately freeze the second you drove over it...causing you to lose control. You clearly weren't prepared for it...when those other people were.
You were following too close to the person in front of you. 4 car lengths is not enough in icy conditions...even if going under the speed limit.
I'm not saying you did it on purpose. I understand accidents happen...to everyone. Sometimes even the best drivers. But you can't act like you had NO control over the situation...because you had most of the control.
Glad you and your bro are alright.

Re: son of a pita....
The 2 most popular crash reasons for relatively new drivers are 1) distracted driving and 2) driving too fast for conditions.
I have driven on ice before and it's not fun.

Taylor Swift needs this advice.
And to all you bashing on this guy for "driving bad"....lay off. He didn't come here to be told off, he came here to have others join him in the mourning of his Ranger.
In the end, people suck.

Next time? Never have, been driving on northern roads since I was 16... But if it ever does happen, it will likely be something I could have prevented... I won't go around blaming people...

Its a forum. If he wants sympathy, this isn't the place to get it.... Truth hurts.
