Re: Ranger Road Trip
Took mine 1250kms from Edmonton over the Rockies to Vancouver BC just after Christmas. Was an absolute dream to drive compared to the previous smaller cars I owned before. The mountain passes were a blizzard and fog combination with roads fully covered, and I had no problems in my truck. Just took it easy and kept my speed reasonable while seeing plenty of cars and trucks/SUV's in the ditch/upside down.

Re: Ranger Road Trip
PGK now thats a road trip, how cold is it up there these days? Leaving tomorrow from Edmonton AB to Vancouver Island BC, I moved to Edmonton at the end of the summer and its my 3rd time driving back. By far one of the coolest drive in Canada driving thru Jasper. 800miles/1200kms ish

Re: Ranger Road Trip
I used to run Prince George to Edson & Peace River all the time. Jasper is popcorn farts compared to the Cassiar and the Dempster haha. The Dempster is 780km of epic gravel road through the coolest mountain valleys in the country. Gee I wonder why I wore my Bilsteins out? Haha. I'm heading from here to Port Hardy next fall to hit the coho runs.
Pretty nice today, around -25. We've been sitting between -30 to -40 most of the winter, it's been a cold one!
Oh and stay out of 4x4 as much as possible. You'll wreck your transfercase pretty fast if you run highway speeds in4x4. I burnt mine out driving Whitehorse to Smithers in a day (~1200km). Don't use it unless you need it!

Re: Ranger Road Trip
Thanks for the tip, I only use it when I need it tho, I have a friend who is possibly going up that way for work but I don't think he will go as far north. Was funny when he asked me if he should get a BMW X3 for up there, I told him I never been that way but im assuming if he was to brake down that would sure cost hell of alot.

Re: Ranger Road Trip
I'd like to get my ranger roadtrip ready and go a couple places. I actually got a couple questions, how long could a car run without stopping? What do you guys take for gear and essentials? I've done some research and followed the Safari Pacific trips which is something I would like to do someday.
Probably from LA to:
The redwood forests in Cali
Seattle, Washington
Oregon
Light trails
National parks to go hiking/camping
Go sight seeing in the grand canyon
See Colorado
Maybe even a financed trip by my dad to Chicago bc he wants to go see family.

Re: Ranger Road Trip
I took a 1300 mile round trip to Toronto in the Rat. It did OK, except for losing a U-joint in Great Barrington , 150 miles from home

I drive from Buffalo New York to Tampa Florida and back every summer. This year we are going to have 3 people with us so I'm thinking of renting a car... I don't like not taking my ranger but I think we would all kill each other if we all went down in the ranger...
