Default Gas mileage for 4.0 V6 4X2 extended cab

I want to buy a 2009 Ranger 4.0V6 4x2 extended cab for my own yard work and stuff around the house. I commute 60 miles round trip 5 days a week on the expressway. I own a Ford Taurus 2008 and the gas mileage is very good.I can only buy the Ranger if the gas mileage is good. Thanks for your help.DKR

you will get about 18-19 all the time. 20 if you really drive smooth.

If you want over 20, 2.3 is the engine for you.

You have to also remember that you won't be getting the best mileage until the engine breaks in. So don't be disappointed if your getting 15-17 at first, it will go up when it breaks in.

Default mileage

I'm selling my 97 toyota 4cyl 5 speed manual and ordered a 09 ranger fx off road 4.0 engine. Big gas mileage difference I know, but I can't wait to get the truck. Have to take the good with the bad sometime

If you want to get a truck, the Ranger is the right way to go as it was rated best in it's class on gas mileage. Not sure if it's in the range you're looking for, but my 4.0 4x4 is 18city 21Hwy, but I also have a K&N intake/filter, flowmaster, and tonneau cover that allow me to get better mpg. Just my $0.02 on this.

Default Bought the Ranger xlt supercab

Decided to get the auto trans with v6 . Looks good rides good and I put 60 miles today on a round trip to work. Dealer told me to get about a 1000 miles on the Ranger before checking the mileage. I may want to trade the tires for a little larger size and a highway road tire. Thanks for all your help.

Congrats on the new truck, and yes, pics are a must! Which v6 engine did you go with?

If he went with an 09 like in the OP, 4.0 is the only V6 option anymore.

Wow, I was not aware they got rid of the 3.0s, it does make sense though...
