I wanted a white ranger but the auto trans and v6 was in a fire engine red and I it kinda grew on me. I will try to get some pictures this weekend. Thanks again for your info, DKR

I have gotten over 20 mpg's once in the life of my truck. I averaged 25 by driving 60 miles on the highway and 150+ on the interstate. My last job I drove 60 miles round trip and avg. 20, even before the K&N filter and iridium spark plugs. Take a look at the gearing on the 2.3 and 4.0 if it is over a 3.73 then your mileage won't be that great.

My 4.0 hit 25 once, never been over 20 since then...but with the extra weight of the 4x4 stuff, shell, 32s, 15x8 wheels, can't expect the best of mileage.

Well ya made the right decision buying a Ford at least. You won't get too much better gas milage between the two unless you buy a mid80s diesel Ranger.

I HAVE A 1999 4.0 AND I GET SHIT ON GAS i would go with the 2.3

99 4.0 is different from the new 4.0...you have an OHV, 01+ 4.0s are SOHC

Not sure what you are getting, but the EPA estimates on the new 4.0 are 14/17 and for yours are 14/20.

I'm able to consistently get 17-18mpg city with the 4.0 and auto trans.

My first two tanks I have been getting little over 19 mpg ,but my trips are 95 percent intersate with little traffic because I go in either early or late. My speed is between 75 to 80 mph most of the time. The Ranger rides good and moves along mighty fine.I have decided to keep the original tires till I need them replaced. My next investment will be a bedliner . SPRAY or DROPIN. Any suggestions, Thanks dkr

Definitely spray, I prefer line-x over rhino.
