So 2010 or 2011
Is it true that 2011 is the last year for the Ranger to be in production. Or is Ford going to redsign them with the Ranger name or is the F100 i hear so much about coming out of retirement to meet the new emissions law and fuel law.

I'm wondering about that too. I hope the ranger keeps going to keep the legacy going.

The latest Ive been able to find suggest that the ranger is done. They are downsizing the F150 badging it the F100 and putting a Ecoboost 4 cyl in it. I have also heard that they are coing to keep the ranger as a reg cab truck only shrink it down some. so who really knows.
The worst sign I think is that the Mazda B series has been dropped.

Well I asked Mazda they said they are dropping the B sieres and are going a differant route with a truck. They also said Ford sold their shares in the Mazda and only two vehicles share the Ford platform now the New Ford Fiesta is a Mazda as well and so is a SUV. I hope Ford keeps the Ranger on the market I would buy another one.

I posted this in another thread where someone brought this topic up...
All that is ever printed is someone "hearing" something, misunderstanding what is heard, and re-publishing that information as fact. To to the best of my knowledge Ford has never said anything about canceling the Ranger.
This is what Ford said about the 2011 date:
Quote:
Twin Cities (Minn.) Assembly Plant – which was scheduled to close in 2009 – will continue production of the Ford Ranger through 2011 to meet consumer demand for the compact pickup.
|
My personal interpretation of what that means is that in 2011, they will analyze whether or not to continue production in Minnesota. If they choose not to they may opt to continue production in another location (with a cheaper work force, better taxes, etc.), or they may opt to produce in another plant with a completely different design.

Heard where? All these blogs that have been publishing announcements about the Ranger, are doing so without any facts, they're just guessing.

Those people are on the bottom of the totem pole, they don't know what's going on beyond what has been officially announced. Nothing has been officially announced, so what he "heard" is probably coming from the same source as what everyone else has "heard" which is 2nd hand information being resubmitted (IE: There is no source, everyone is just repeating rumors as "I heard...").

Ford didn't sell all of their shares in Mazda, they went from 33% to 13%.

I cant name the site off the top of my head I bieleve it was auto blog. AND I wasn't stating anything as fact. If you actually read my post you'll see i said that I heard it was done AND that I heard it was being downsized. If you type in 2012 ranger you will find this info without trying hard as I said at the end of the post "who really knows".
No reason to get your panties in a bunch.

I think they will redesign the Ranger and Release a new F100 model at similar times. If the the so called F100 is successful I imagine Rangers days are numbered. One will stay and one will go based on popularity/sales just my .02

I would not mind gettning my hands on the Old Ranger half tons I seen one at a junk yard was going to buy it but the rust was to bad on it. Even so the whole Ford Ranger debate is all hear say no one knows whats going on for the Ranger but Ford and they are tight lip about it. I never ment to start a fight I thaught I would see if anybody knew anything more about it.
