Not at all, the blogs have changed their guesses many times but Ford not so much.

In 2006 Ford announced they were restructuring their production, part of that plan included closing the twin cities plant (where the Ranger is made) and open a new plant (for who knows what). They also say that they will have further announcements on this topic in 2008.

In 2008 Ford announced they were halting their previous decision to close the twin cities plant and will reconsider in 2011.

IMHO, that isn't changing their minds many times.

It's likely that Ford does intend to do something with the Ranger, but no one knows... which is why all of the guesses the blogs have posted over the years have turned out to be wrong.

Perhaps there will be a global ranger but in some countries it'll have a ranger badge and in others it'll be badged as a F100

Default Here's what is...

This much I do know is indeed fact: the 5.0 returns in 2011 as an OHC engine. It's to replace the 4.6 3V V8. The Shelby GT350's return, and Ford Motor Co. looks to either replace the Ranger or do an "old school" F100 Body style like my avatar listed in my every post. Also look for a 4 Clynder Version of the new "ecoboost V6" to hit the market. one thing is for sure. Ford Motor Co. needs to update the ranger. If you doubt the new 5.0, google it. The competition is calling it Coyote ugly. That's the new name Ford came up with. You'll also find a few pics of it too. Coyote is what they're calling the new 5.0 D.O.H.C 4V V8. Basicly they plan on scaling down the old F100 to the ranger's size.

Default Ford Ranger

Hi Everone,
I've just become the proud owner of a 2002 double cab ranger and I am thrilled to bits.
I collect the vehicle on Saturday and I am really looking forward to driving it back from Wales.
Is it true that they are very light at the rear end and you need to put a concrete bird bath or something similar in the back?
I'll let you know how I get on.
Ratty

I'm content to live in the past with my personal preference, which is that value wise and quality wise nothing beats a 1997 ranger. Last year of the i-beam, most advancements of anything to date until the 2.5L changeover meaning the tried and true ironed out 2.3L design was finally perfect and better than ever. Styling and interior still had personality to it, not just another cut off the block futuristic sharp angle design.

I'm a huge fan of the 01-03 front end and think it is the best yet aside of the obvious bias to the 97 I have, but no further than just the front end itself.

I know change is inevitable, but I'm actually content to stay in my comfort zone on this one thing. I let everything else roll with the changes except my truck. I just don't care for much else than this certain design I have grown to love.

No you only notice how light the back is if you're trying to get a bit f traction in 2wd on ice. Normal road driving the ranger is fine, in fact its about the best double cab in the uk although front shocks are a bit bouncy. Post some pics when you get it mate.

I had one of those myself. But after having the 04 Ranger Edge for 6 years it's far superior in design than the old 97 XLT. For example: the frame was very poorly constructed IMO. I beam styled frame versus the fully boxed frame that you find on todays Ford trucks is 10 times stronger and safer than the old I beam style frame could ever be. #2: the brakes are alot better and you have alot more options to choose from. #3: alot better engine specs (the new ranger engines are made in germany) and far better fuel economy and effeciency than in the past. design wise the Ford ranger needs an upgrade period. The interiors haven't changed since 1998, and the hood listings from LMC Truck are the same for the next 12 model years(1998 to 2010). I can understand living in the past in much happier times but we all know that moving forward is what makes us improve ourselves and our ways of life.

That Ranger does not look bad I like the grey one but if the interior feels cheap with not alot of quality behind it people won't buy it. I like the quality behind the interior in my Ranger every other truck on the market just feels awkward on the inside.

I bet that thing sounds damn good. I wish I didn't have all of these cpu problems then I can listen to that wonderful tune of an engine running. It's music to my ears. The smell of gasoline coming from the exhaust is perfume to my nostrils. 437 HP 452 ft. LBS torque FROM THE FACTORY.
