eXtra Long Travel ?

I've heard extra luxurious truck, but I don't think there's ever been anything official explaining what the different acronyms mean.

the "xlt" is simply a trim package designation Ford used.It was used on the trucks and suv's only. It is,generally speaking, the highest level of creature comforts offered on them with the exception of the "Eddie Bauer" package.
