Default towing question

I just baught a new 2009 from off the lot last year. I want to buy a holiday trailer with 2800 lbs dry weight. Will my 4.0 V6 be able to handle it if so will I have to upgrade the standard Class 3 hitch to something a bit bigger I am so confused.

All the trailer towing info you will ever need for your truck is in your owner's manual. When all else fails, read the book.....

the only way trailer brakes would work is if you have a brake controller in your truck, unless the trailer has hydrolic brakes.
do not tow by the bumper hitch!! your truck should be able to pull 5000-6000 lbs with a class 3 hitch.
i have towed 6500 lbs with my 4.0L and a class 3 hitch

whats the sticker on the door jam say max gvwr is then take out your weight then what ever else you plan putting in the trailer and what ever you plan to put in the truck . once you have the total subtracted, what ever you have left is the size trailer you can pull legally!

I think I might rigg the truck up with a trailer brake control just when I went to RV dealer ships they wanna sell stuff that i think I don't need thats why I am asking.

are you buying the trailer new? if you are try to get them to throw in the brake control, if they need a sale they should throw it in. several people i know have done that and they usually throw the brake control in.
