nonono man my 02 fx4 plows through snow easy, accually, it has a mount in the front specially for a snowplow, so they got it done quicker than the dealer thought. we have ben plowing for 3 years now, and i havent had one thing mess up yet.

----------

any yeah, thats about the same weight we got, we put salt bags in the back to help level out the truck and get traction on the road, and were planning to get a sno way salter 9 to salt the parking lots.

----------

and you got to remember, fx4packeg cumes with tougher componets than say a 2002 xlt 4x4 or 4x2

Yes the Manual does say Do Not Use this vehicle as a snow plow. lol But where there's a will, there's a way. Yes there are Rangers out there with snowplows on them. And there are also Jeep Wranglers with snowplows, hell, i have seen two where I live. And get this, I have even seen a small plow on a GEO METRO!!! Not sure how good that works, but when i saw it at the gas station last year, i was like, OMG WTF!! I should have taken a pic of it. It was this little red and rusty geo metro with like a 5 or 6 foot snowplow on the front. I was like the plow has to weigh more than the car!! lol

Peace

Search craigslist with "ford ranger snow plow" (at least throughout the new England craigslists) and you'll get a variety of brands. Snoway, snow bear, Meyers, fisher appear often. Many of the brands have a lighter rig homeowner setup which is probably the only practical setup for the ranger. Fisher, I think, requires 200lbs of ballast in the bed...but the brand websites will have information. The traditional full hydraulic quick release setups are probably all a little heavy for ranger. Typical plow widths are 6' 8". Some of the homeowner setups require manual angling (have an electric hoist to lift, but no remote control of angle). There is a brand for mounting on the rear in a hitch receiver too.

YouTube has LOTS of videos, both commercial ads and owner submissions, so search there too.

I don't know if the snow plow brands are regional or national in scope (probably varies).
