Trying to blame ford because you can't maintain your vehicle? Good luck. Even if ford decides to waste money, what are they going to do? They won't fire the plants back up to make parts for a discontinued vehicle. Take your truck to a scrap yard, it's dead and it is your fault, not Ford's.

Well it wasn't my fault, it was who ever owned it before. It just sucks to trash an almost perfect ranger. I guess this just reinforces the fact to wash your undercarriage!

Re: Frame Rust/Rot - Let Ford Know!
I bought mine used from a guy who got it in Vermont. The frame was rusted in half behind the front hanger for the right rear spring. The way the crossmember is attached to the frame traps salt and dirt and causes the frame to rust. I also had to replace part of the frame where the bumper attaches, and fabricate a new crossmember to support the tank. The frames are made of very thin material. I noticed the other day I have more cracks, and a cab support to replace. My old F-150 never had this much rust. Hell, Jeep CJ frames are rust prone, but not this badly.

Every year I have the underside of my truck sprayed with hot oil. I do the insides of the doors and tailgate too. It costs me 70 bucks but I figure that's pretty cheap insurance. They use a lot of salt here in NH also. As a bonus, when things break/wear out its usually pretty easy to take things apart.

Crossmember is a chronic rust area for rangers. My crossmember is like completely gone next to the cab. Both of the front two connection points on the bed are rusted free so the bed moves a slight bit.

oil repels water and helps keep salt off the metal, its common, i oil spray cars with used oil for 50$ a car and about an hour of work. really helps them last longer.

no, just dont park on nice drive ways for like a week lol it drips off slowly, vary slowly. again oil and water dont mix so it dosnt wash off, my dads truck he oil sprayed for 10 years and its driven every day in ohio winters and has just built up a thick layer of dirty oil over the years

That's so true about not parking on nice driveways! I get mine done by a guy named Troy Tucker in Nelson, NH. He uses heated bar and chain oil. Yes, it is sloppy and does go everywhere. I usually wait a few weeks and the wash the excess off the outside of the truck. He does the engine compartment too, so if you like a nice clean engine I'd skip it.
