Going Full Size....
Well after weighing my options and looking around to see what I can find, my ranger is either going to be traded in or sold to my uncle. I'm leaning towards either Toyota or GM. Sorry guys, but it seems to me that Ford doesn't like returning customers and Toyota has been offering some insane deals here lately. Now I did find a 2013 F150 that I did like, but not really sure if I want to put up with their crap. I knew this day was coming and yesterday made it perfectly clear that I can no longer drive a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission. Later on today I have to return to UVA for a CT scan and follow up visit. What are your thoughts on this matter?

I also should mention that Ford has a new color for 2013 and it's awesome. It's called Blue Jean Metallic. It's basically the same color as a brand new pair of blue jeans with a high metal flake.

Re: Going Full Size....
My thoughts are mixed, I work for a Toyota retailer and I drive a Ford. The Tundra is an awsome piece of equipment, expensive to operate though. The base model starts with 381HP that has to be fed. GM is still working with old tecnology for rest of this year, the first actually new engines in almost 70 years come out next year. If I were in your current position I'd be looking between the F150 and the Tundra, not the Sierra.

I would go with the F150. As for the color i like it but to me it looks like the blueish color chevy uses. Looks to much alike for me.
For those of you who dont know.

Re: Going Full Size....
This is a ford site, so of course you are going to get more sway torwards ford. But for me personally, imo i think gm makes a better truck than ford. With fords track record the last 15 or so years with the v8s in the fullsize, id wait longer to see how good these new motors actually are.
Someone stated that gm is working old technology. Me, personally would rather have a proven motor (much like alot of people prefer the ford 7.3 over the newer motors) than a newly degined motor that could be a pos

Re: Going Full Size....
My previous Ranger was at 168,000 miles and was coming due for trade at 11 years in it, so last year in September I jumped into the reading and reviewing mode. Having had the Ranger in the shop several times over the past year I had driven a couple of full size trucks as loaners. I ruled out the full size options for several reasons and opted to stay with a compact truck.
I am also a Dave Ramsey "pay cash" devotee so after doing a butt-load of reading and reviewing it came down to another Ranger (pre-owned) or a Nissan Frontier.
The Ranger got the vote based on past experience (3 previous Rangers) and the price, as I was able to make a decent deal on a Ranger for around $5,000 less than what a Nissan would have cost me.
All that said, the Nissan was tempting due to some of the state of the art features and the roomier cab. Don't read that as whining about the Ranger, but as an encouragement to look further than Toyota and the other full size trucks. If you prefer a smaller truck I would suggest at least taking a thorough look at the Frontier.

Re: Going Full Size....
if the choice is between GM and a toyota, i'd go GM. while i personally havin't been in love with the trucks they've made for the last decade or two, they are an overall good vehicle. engines are reliable and have plenty of power, service and replacement parts are dirt cheap, and a plus for you would probibly be the very roomy interiors and low ride hight, would probibly make getting in & out easyier for you. i've driven a few differant models at work, and they are a fine truck.
just don't get a colorodo / canyon with the 5cyl engine. that isuzu built POS is nothing but trouble! lol

lol yeah, my dad tends to lean towards GM & chrysler products, he's had really good luck with both. my first car i actually drove with a liscance & tags on it was a '97 Monte Carlo, which has been a great car to me. never ran quite right, but never left me stranded, always did what i needed it to do. i ran it for roughly 4 years and only had a total of about $800 into it, including the purchase price

yup, i've always thought that was cool. but the cost is almost the same as a 1500 with a 5.3, which makes upgrading to a fullsize a no-brainer. i've heard they had 4.3 v6's in some of the older models, which is usually a good engine, and of course the underpowered but indistructable iron duke 4cyl is available in 'em. really any engine other than that POS turd 5cyl is good, lol.

Re: Going Full Size....
You can say that about everything though. For a 1500 crew cab 4x4 with a few options can get you within a few grand of a 2500hd crewcab lt 4x4

very true. it's easy to let those "it's only a couple grand more" upgrades stack up! lol.

Re: Going Full Size....
Nothing wrong with GM. I had an 01 2500 with the 6.0 that had 191k miles on it when I sold it. Still original motor and trans, and both ran smoothly.
