Default Official Ranger Vs Fullsize Thread

Due to the nature of the best we have seen this forum divided between Ranger and F150 owners. Some stand by the Ranger and others stand by the F150 (or any other fullsize mod).

This has sparked a debate on those who say "I don't need a big truck so the Ranger is perfect for me" VS "I needed more room, more refinement and more capabilities so I bought a Full size"

Let's Clarify by a means of a poll.

Here are the rules.
-You must have driven a Ranger as well as a full size (F150, Ram, Silverado, Titan, Tundra, etc) to compare both in terms of capabilities, room, driving, performance, MPG, comfort, etc.
-You must not discuss why Ford killed off the ranger (it's gone, it's been discussed before, move on)
-Follow Forum Rules do not turn this into politics
-Discussing the 3L vs 4L or 2wd vs 4wd is not permitted

It's just s simple way of seeing who prefers the Ranger over a fullsizeor vice versa . those who own a ranger and wouldn't buy a fullsize because they love their ranger, then vote RANGER. For those who have a ranger but can see the personal need of a fullsize and would prefer a fullsize. Vote FULLSIZE. Those who have a Fullsize and love it then Vote FULLSIZE.

Disclaimer: I am aware it;s a ranger forum therefore most will be biased, but I have seen a fair share still prefer the f150 or a fullsize so this will be interesting.

Full-size hands down and here's why....more refined, safer, more power, more room, more comfortable, better road manners, better fit/finish, and I get the same mpg with my F150 as my 4.0 ranger

nope gotta make choice, You can't go to a dealership and say I want a truck, I don't care what, you have to make choice based on your needs and preference.

im stuck between the two I like the room and power of the F-150 or other full sizes but on the other hand I'm a smaller guy and like the compact size and the off road performance of the Ranger and other Small trucks.

with that said and looking at my current needs a ranger will do everything i need everybody else will just have to find there own ride

I've had a Ranger since 1999, two of them. The present being a 2004 Edge. I also have an F150, 2012. I prefer my Ranger for almost everything, but like the F150 for a longer drive, 200 miles plus. As far as over all preference, hey, I don't know. One is not much more than a midsize car, and the other a full size.
I've had 250's for many, many years, diesels, and I know some may disagree, but neither the Ranger or the 150 can hold a candle to an SD Stroker. But that isn't what you asked.
I think a choice for both should be there.

Compact pickup for two reasons, needs and cost of ownership. The overall operating cost (parts, tires, etc) are much higher on the F150 than the ranger. If it weren't for my sailboat, I would have bought a 4cyl as I don't need the power of my 4.0L 95% of the time.

If I could afford the initial cost of a full size if get the new f150. I love big trucks and the room and capabilities of them.

Although my ranger serves a great purpose of being a DD and the best made compact truck out(well it was). I would much rather be able to have an f150... Like I said, finances ;(

I dont think FRF is "divided" at all, if you spend any time at all on any Ranger forum you will see the natural progression tends to be Ranger to fullsize as peoples lives change. Ive been part of the Ranger forum community for close to 10 years and this is nothing new at all and certainly not isolated to FRF alone.

That said I will answer you question. As I still own both a Ranger and and F150 I can answer pretty much unbiased from either side. I voted Fullsize and this is why and my reasons are dictated by my personal needs. For one, its far more useful and practical to me in almost every way than my Ranger is. It can pull 10K as well as carry the entire family, its way more powerful, alot more comfortable, safer, gets similar mileage. Simply put, I outgrew my Rangers. They are great trucks and have there place for sure but if you want to haul a family and still fit a bag of groceries in the back seat they suck ass, if you want to load your family in it and hook up to a big enough camper to fit your family in for the weekend its impossible and then again not to mention my F150 is rate as one of the safest vehicles on the road. Not that Ive never had my daughter in a car seat in my Ranger but I know she is much safer in my F150. Now, the reason I still have my ranger you ask? Its fun as hell! Its my toy, my wife and I will pawn off the kid for the day and head up to the dunes with it and putt around in the sand for an afternoon then come home and the truck will sit for another month or so. Then I might drive it to work a few times a summer. My Ranger will wheel circles around my F150 and is more fun to drive in general. My F150 is my workhorse, daily driver and utility vehicle while my Ranger is nothing more than a toy.
