I used to live in North Dakota and winters like that suck. It's funny though how when it starts warming up you'll see people walking around in shorts and it'll be about 30 degrees.

I only got two 50 lb bags of sand in mine. And about people under-dressing in winter.. in January, when the temperature gets to -65 celcius with wind chill, no ones vehicles start and everyone stays home.. but the next day when it's only -40 you see people in light hoodies and even some in tshirts.. stupid.

Lol, yeah it's funny now that I live in Denver to hear people complain about the snow and cold. Last year I put up Christmas lights in a t-shirt since it was in the 60s.

What I don't get...you live in snow and ice, it comes with the area, what do people think of when they think Denver, Montana, North Dakota, etc etc....Snow "Oh my god its so cold" "Move to Arizona" "Oh crap its so hot!"

Yeah, I think people just tend to complain about weather no matter where they are. Other than not knowing what is going to happen from day to day Denver seems to have some of the best weather out of anywhere I've been. It's warm in the summer, but normally not in the 100s, and I like snow but it doesn't usually stick around more than a few days even in the middle of winter. Only bad thing is that forecasters can't even seem to predict the right weather patterns just one day in advance.

Lol That's why I love Washington, same thing, rarely get into the 100s, snow lasts maybe a day or two, at most a week. It does rain on the west side a lot, but I also love the rain. I was excited to drive to work in it yesterday lol

I built a box out of treated 2x6s and put a hinged top on it. I fill it with probably about 200lbs of sand and salt mix (from the local public works dept.) and a shovel cut to fit into the box.

I have had it for years. I used it when I was in college and had a 2wd. I am a huge believe in using weight in trucks. It allows more freedom in the winter. I was able to take my 2wd further onto snow covered trails then a buddy with an explorer in 4wd.

I use two 50lbs sand bags, might add two more this winter. It handles good in the snow though and 4x4 hleps.

It's a bad idea to carry concrete blocks or wheel weights in a truck. Wait til the first time you ditch it going about 40 and it stops real quick in a snow bank or ditch. It caves in the front of the bed and possibly more. My dads old truck did just that. Caved in the front of the bed, damaged the back of the cab enough to crack the rear window. Plus in a more serious wreck, I wouldn't want those blocks hittin me in the back of the head.

Sand bags or loose sand would be my choice, but I never use anything in my truck for weight.
