I'm really not sure what the deal was with the suspension. But he seriously looked into exporting it and he talked to a guy who actually brought one to the USA. He had to have the US spec suspension to pass inspections but he fitted the original German stuff after that.

I think the closest thing we're gonna get to a four door ranger is gonna be the Mahindra diesel. They worked with Ford to build cars for India so I guess it's like the Rangers' cousin thrice removed...

You mean the basterdized son of a king? Lol Mahindris are ugly, I'll go look at one, but no way in hell would I buy one. Regardless if you can get a diesel and a crew cab. It's also not a domestic. Lol not for me.

Do you get Landrover pickups in the US, the latest versions over here have Ford turbo diesels. I think these would sell well as a no nonsense work truck and hardcore off roader.

I wish we did. But no we don't. I'd be all over that. I love Land Rovers. I wish Jeep would make a Truck too.

I don't want to start a new thread about this point: I want to stick with domestic, but does it really matter because I only buy used cars??? No matter what I do, it'll never help Ford really... What do you guys think???

Used car sales still indirectly affect the manufacturer. For example, one of the selling points of Toyota vehicles is that they hold their value over a long period of time. The reason they hold their value is because people are willing to spend more money on a used Toyota versus the other brands. As a result of this positive reputation, Toyota is able to sell more new cars.

You're right. There is always the replacement OEM parts. There is a lot of money in that. I've worked in the Ford 'Parts distribution center' here in TX, which services dealerships and shops in the southwest. The markup is crazy!!! They'll be shipping Ranger parts for decades to come. They're still shipping parts for 60-something T-Birds and Broncos etc.

Your facts are wrong there my friend. China is the biggest sole producer of green house gases. We have CAFE in some states and the rest of the States have a federal standard that is at or better than Europe.

Americas emissions standards are probably as strict if not more than Europe. More Americans drive than Europeans.

Cumblerland County has emission test

But all vehicles have to meet federal standards, and if they haven't been tested to USA standards, then they have to be certified, Also, at least with the Mexican rangers, Airbags was one of the main stopping point, since most dont have them

I think it would be less of a hassle to just bring in the body/interior parts and put them on US truck... either way it would be a ton of money. The only way of really importing is, if you find one that has been totaled and have it sent to you in 2 clips (front and back) and then again swap onto a US frame.

the main reason these trucks can not come into to states is because of side impact resistance. they are bery weak in the b pillars of the truck where the 2 doors go together . i have researched this a lot and tried many times to get one. all i wish to get is the cab and four doors and i was looking around 2500 bucks for that 3500 shipped to my door cause i found a person to mexico coming to my town and was seing if he could bring it . my prob has been finding a cab that is worth even bringing up here most that have been wrecked in bed are fixed and drove again so all of th ones i have had a chance to get have been wrecked in the cab and to me they are worthless

The other option you have would probably be taking an Explorer and grafting the back of a ranger cab on behind the rear seats. Then extend the frame and put a bed on it. You could even make that street legal here.
