Default Snoff-Roading in the Nor'easter right after Hurricane Sandy

So I got to test out my truck in the snow last night (along with my new offroad lights)... I gotta say, she surprised me again! This is my first 4x4 and I love it! It is very capable and I didnt really push it too hard this time!

This is the Noreaster we just got after Hurricane Sandy so the trails were interesting to say the least!

Check it out!

Haha, it was good because it is only one night... It's melting now and almost 60F outside! Too bad they salted the roads

My 04 Ranger 4x4 XLT ext. cab Edge worked pretty good. Like you it was the first time in snow. I knew it would go good as far as traction etc. But I never had a 4X4 with a switch to go in and out of 4 wheel drive. I was surprised how quietly it worked, no gear clashing or noise of any kind. Pretty nice I thought. I 'm not sure how fast/slow or what the speed limit is while going in and out of 4 wheel drive?

Under 35 mph for 4 high. I usually stop when switching back and forth. If you switch out while moving it kind of jumps and lags

I throw it into neutral at like 5mph as then switch it, it doesn't jump at all that way

Nice. I took mine hunting with a friend yesterday. She didn't believe it when I told her it was like a little rock crawler. Needless to say, I found some rocks and crawled over them.

I'm still waiting for Brutus to drop some snow on my head so I can try it out in that. So far it's done great in everything else. I want at least a foot of snow to really test it out.

I wouldn't have even used 4wd for what you went through. I had my Ranger in mud so deep it was coming in under the doors before I kicked it into 4hi. I probably would have been fine, but I didn't want to chance having to be pulled out by a Dodge.
