are they still as strong?
my ole friends n me would go down into junction city and sit by corny lake with a fire goin and tell storys n stuff, and friend (eckhoff) said one night they were driving in his 98 ford ranger 4x4 and they were on a road i think he said dirt not sure but they flipped and rolled completely over back onto all 4 wheels and got out to look at damage, and eckhoff said the only damage was that both mirrors were broken off and a small dent in door from the mirror, he said frame and body was fine no damage at all and my other friend who was with him said it truly happend and he is a witness....so im wondering if the newer made rangers are just as strong anybody got any stories??? and obviously lol im not gonna go flip my ranger to find out haha i would cry i love my ranger haha
so feel free to tell your stories because im sure we all want to know

Re: are they still as strong?
your friends are lying. there's no way that you can smash only the mirrors into the doors and not have any other body damage.
and yes the trucks are just as strong as the old ones, possibly stronger thanks to increased safety requirements. this is another waste of a thread.

Not sure about this. Newer ones have more plastic body parts and such. The safety requirements may actually make them weaker because of crumple zones and such.

Re: are they still as strong?
the cab is just as strong if not stronger to protect the occupants. factory designed crumple zones don't count as weak spots.

Re: are they still as strong?
Check my photos... Driver's side damage on my ranger was due to a snowbank... sideways... at 55 mph. No frame damage whatsoever.

This is why I still prefer the old steel body trucks. All the new ones crumple like a beer can.

idk about you, but i'd prefer a car to be the one that takes the damage in an accident instead of my body.

I'd rather not be squished inside my car. Seems like any time a new vehicle and an older vehicle get into a collision, the driver of the older vehicle walks away and the driver of the newer vehicle goes to the hospital.

I've seen crash tests that show the opposite of this.
