Where does your loyalty lie
So as you all are Ford enthusiasts, how did you become so? Where you born into it, chose it based on driving other manufactured vehicles, or did you just simply stumble upon a Ford.
Personally I grew up in a Dodge family and just happened to come across a killer deal on a ranger and that's how it started.

Re: Where does your loyalty lie
My Dad was a "Ford Man".
I consider myself an "auto enthusiast", not really brand specific. I've had several different makes & models, and have had likes & dislikes with many manufacturers.
I would have to say that my top 3 favorite automakers are Jeep, Ford & Toyota. Not sure I could nail down a "#1" though, LoL

Re: Where does your loyalty lie
My dad had an old 88 ranger ext cab, 2wd truck, silver with blue pin striping, it was a 5 speed, i think, i know it was a stick. Cant remember what motor it had. I was pretty young, i remember riding in the passenger seat, as well as the rear jump seats. My dad knew alot about his ranger, and did alot of his own work, and i tried to help him, but i was like 10, lol.
He used this truck, it had a blue ladder rack thing in the back bed for his ladders and work supplies, it was his work truck, he worked for a cable company, and they didnt have company vehicles, so he had to use his truck, well he bought it for that purpose. He put many many miles on it. When he got a new job, in Minnesota, we were from Texas, well we moved to Minnesota, and the truck came with, but soon he got a new company truck, and the Ranger didnt get use much. His company truck was a white jeep cherokee, he had that for a while, then he got a 98 dodge dakota with topper, and now he has a 2004 white f-250. Anyway after he got his first company truck, the ranger was just not used, mom had her own ford bronco 2, and then sold that and got a 95 ford explorer, eventually sold that and got a dodge durango (big mistake), so dad ended up selling the ranger.
Anyway, i learned to drive in my moms bronco 2 for a bit, then in the 95 explorer, then i got my first truck, which was a 1995 Ford Ranger 2wd 2.3l 5 speed reg cab. Which i actually bought in Texas on a trip to visit relatives. The 95 explorer and my 95 ranger were so much alike, at least the interior, dash and stuff.
But my ranger was a 5 speed, i had to learn how to drive a stick fast, cuz i would have only a week to learn before i would have to drive it all the way back up from Texas to Minnesota. I had that Ranger thru highschool and college. Then after college, i decided, since the Ranger was what i loved and knew, i would upgrade to an ext cab 4x4.... got my 99 Ranger, ext cab auto (i wish it was a stick), 4x4.
Ive been thru good times and horrible times with my Ranger, but im keeping it til its no longer able to perform its purpose.
Not to change the subject, but FORD is RETARDED for dropping the Ranger in the USA.
I see Rangers ALL OVER, yesterday i counted 20 different rangers, from 88 to brand new 2011. At work there are 4 Rangers, and 2 f150s, 1 f250, and many big dodges.
One guy at work has a 95/96 ranger long box, reg cab 2wd 5speed, its white and needs some tlc. Another guy has a beat up 98 ranger, 3.0 ext cab 4x4, its a beat up farm truck, but he loves it. The other ranger, a younger guy has an 02 step side, blue, 4.0 4x4, he likes it, but hes not big into mods and stuff, he wants a suv soon. Then theres my nice ranger, it has to be the best, biggest, and most work done to it.

I agree! I see rangers everywhere I go. My neighbor across the street has one, identical to the one "just call me fat" got from his Dad.
I live in farm country, and small pickups are the new workhorse of America. If a farm is big enough to hire someone, it has a small pickup, and most of them are Rangers.

Thanks, I wish I could dig up some pics of his old ranger... It was a nice truck, and a great work truck. He said he bought it used with 57k on it, and when he sold it, it had over 300k on it, until the odometer quit working lol. He replaced the clutch once!
He told me last month he saw it in town one day!! And he sold it back in like 1999. So it's still on the road.

I was born into it. Growing up we had nothing but Fords.
My dad now has a Titan and a Malibu (work car) and my mom has an Explorer, one of my sisters has an S10 Ad my other sister has a Grand Vitara.
I've driven my fair share of other makes but I still prefer Ford. Dodges and chevys have too much play on their steering for me, drives me insane!
I also had a Infiniti G20 for a while. It was an awesome gas saver but was nothing but trouble. Put over $1000 of work in it before I gave up on it. It just wasn't reliable.
I just like Ford mostly because of the way they drive (tight steering, accurate braking, ect) and their reliability.

Ive just been around fords sense i was little, my mom drove a red 94 explorer with the v6 while my dad was driving a 98 xlt 2wd 3.0 purple ranger. then my mom traded her 94 in and got a green 98 explorer then in 2000 my dad had to have a work van for work and traded his boss his ranger for a 96 astro ( slowest damn thing ever) then in 2003 my dad bought a brand new ranger that was gold ext cab xlt 2wd with the 3.0. Then after some time( late 2007 i believe) my mom totaled out the gold ranger that was probably my favorite vehicle my parents owned, so my dad told my mom your buying me another truck so they went to the dealer three weeks later and bought the truck i now drive (2008 2wd sport 4.0 fully loaded) so yea I've pretty much grew up with fords only bad thing now is i have the only ford in my family
