The HID wiring harness is only mandatory if you purchase the 55w kit. The 35w kit is normally suitable to run as is.

nobody orders the 55 watt kits, if you pay attention we all use the 35 watt kits. and the heat from a bulb will melt your headlights before it torches the wiring

People do order the 55w ones. Just because nobody posted that they bought doesn't mean they haven't. My friend's truck has 55w headlights and fog lights. And I just bought the 55w H3 kit.

And 55 watts is STILL less than your existing headlights. Stock high beams are 65 watts each. However I would recommed using a relay anyway. It is not mandatory but recommended. And the heat from lamps has nothing to do with the wiring.

why did you order the H3 bulbs? rangers are 9007 and as said before fogs are 9145 (H10)

and guys yes they are cheap. dont forget you get wat u pay for! my slim kit was 60 and i love them well worth the 60 bucks

So you need to buy a relay on a ranger too?

The only time i heard about it being needed was on my saturn, because the stupid fancy chmancy computer wouldn't accept hid kits since they didn't conform to the original specs of the stock bulbs.

btw thanks a lot guys, those are cheeeeeaply priced kits! Hope they aren't cheaply made because i plan to buy a few!

Just wanted the throw my vote out there for VVME.com. I have the DDM Kit on my Ranger and the VVME kit on the wife's Murano. The VVME kit cost me $58+shipping for the 9007 6000K. The DDM kit cost 29+shipping for the same 9007 6000K. After driving for several months with both I prefer the look of the VVME kit and the product appeared to be of a better quality then the DDM Kit. $30 was worth the VVME kit...IMHO.

Where did you see a difference of quality? I like the DDM because it has the standard boxes vs slims (although i've only seen it online). And was there a difference in colours or was it a spectrum issue?

There were two things I saw that pulled me toward the VVME kit. First, is quality. The ballast are a little larger but they are metal, waterproof/weatherproof and feel solid. They also had adjustable ballast brackets, nice in those tight spaces. The plastic ballast on the DDM kit felt cheap. All the wires had a good thick insulation, and extra plastic insulation for the wires that stretched across the engine bay. All the connectors had rubber gaskets. It came with a relay and the DDM kit did not. Each ballast had a ground wire. It came with all the necessary mounting hardware and 4 wire ties, plus 2 smaller bolts. I guess for the ballast, if you needed smaller bolts. The kit just felt more thought out and had more attention to detail.

The second thing I noticed is completely subjective. After I drove both cars for a few months, I just felt the VVME kit looked better. I felt like the lights gave better visibility and had less glare. I know this can be due to other things, such as the headlights and the fact I comparing two different vehicles. But I have piece of mind with the VVME kit and I don't with the DDM kit. Just my opinion though.

go zip tie those off right now. edgerider lost a HID ballast about a day after he installed his because of that shitty tape. i just ordered 2 kits off DDM for my fogs and my expos fogs and the ballasts that are in my truck currently are zip tied to my header panel. im gonna find out if i can make some brackets soon.

There is nothing to Zip Tie to where i have them at. I installed them on thursday and have been keeping a very close eye on them every time i park the truck i give them a once over. I havent installed the Fogs yet, i didnt have time so im not sure what im going to do there. It would be nice to find some brackets, im very pleased with the DDM kit, but very disapointed that DDM overlooked the ballast mounting.

the 2 autoluminate kits i purchased previously didnt come with brackets either wich sucked.

what i ended up doing was running a ziptie along the body of the ballast between the wires, then looped another thru that and zipped em off to holes in my headerpanel
