I'll more than likely keep the Ranger until it falls apart. Already putting money aside for a new motor, tranny, TC, and diffs. Sounds dumb, but I can restore this truck for pennies on the dollar versus buying a new truck that's going to wear out anyway. This is my 2nd Ranger and I like it. If it gets totaled for some reason, I'll try and find another Ranger like the one I have. We have other vehicles as well.

I've had this idea in my mind to take an early 80's F2-50 4wd with a 4 speed manual transmission and match it to an Allis Chalmers G2800 Diesel engine (4.9L I-6 turbo charged diesel out of an AC 190XT). Physical size wise I believe it is very identical in length to a Ford 300 I-6 and I believe an engine mount can be fabbed onto the side to bolt up. The Trans bolt up would be the issue, not sure if that would work or not. The 190XT engine is 100 hp give or take a few ponies and the 300 Ford carbed is about 130 hp or so. I've got an idea it would be a very fuel efficient engine.

At minimum it would sound awesome and be great for tooling around on backroads. It's just an idea I've had in my mind.

When my current 07 Ranger hits 250,000 I plan on being close to retirement, so who knows what will exist then. Right now I've got 23 more year to be eligible in my pension system for retirement and the truck is just shy of 85,000 miles. Might just turn it over to my son in 13 years when he's old enough to drive.

They'll probably put the 4cyl ecoboost in it. Funny thing is you still won't be able to work on it without moving half the shit in the engine compartment.

Sent from between the spare tire and the evap canister.
