Smile Regearing

I have a 94 ranger v6 4.0L 4x4 extracab. I put a 5" lift on it and 33x12.5 tires. Now it is sluggish especially going up hills. I was wondering about regearing it. I have stock 3.73 gears ( L/S 8.8") What do you recommend..
Thanks
Tim

I am running 4.56 gears on my 33s but have the newer 4.0. They have been awesome completely changes the truck!

since you have a ohv i would say 4.88 or maybe even a 5.0 swap if your not comftorable after that.

I had 3.73 and had sluggish power all time. I went to 4.10 and OMG it's like new. Tons power which been there whole time, just response is back.

Truck originally came out with 225/70/14 and currently runs 31/10.50/15. It's a 2wd

Hope this helps.

4.56 will be just fine you don't need 4.88 or a motor swap these OHV pull great as it is. You should be set with 4.56 man.

Yup I'm running 4.10 with 33s and agree 4.56 should do the trick.

Ya the ohv is a much lower reving engine and if you look at any gear ratio converter puts the ideal ratio around 4.30 but the don't make front gears in 4.30 so 4.56 is ideal for city and offroad and 4.10s if you do only hi way miles.

3.73 is right in the boarder of too tall on the modern 4.0. Granted, I live in the Appalachian Mountains, so higher gears aren't the best choice here. With that being said, I would agree that 4.55 would probably be a good choice for you.

Would 4.56s kill my top end speed? I do want some top end speed
