Default Ford Ranger heater/AC blower problem

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger ... when I turn on the heat or the air, the temperature is correct, very warm or very cool ... however, even though it sounds like the fan is blowing, the only substantive amount of air coming out is coming out at the dash ... in A/C mode, I can feel coolness coming thru the air vents, but it's not like air blowing thru the vents. From what I've read online, this sounds like it's going to cost an arm to fix! Any ideas what the problem is?

Most likely you have a vacumn leak and its coming out up by the windshield. Check the vacumn line fron the top passengers side of the engine to the body for melted or bad spots.

Default You're GOOD!

That was absolutely correct! I was so ELATED! I was convinced it was something much worse and much more lethal to my pocketbook - the place I take my vehicle for service - a Firestone outlet - fixed it for FREE!!!

I have a similar problem, except in mine, the vents blow air, but its only the temp of the air outside. The heater and the a/c don't work. Ive been freezin in my truck for months and i dont know what to do. I have no idea if theres a clogged hose or if the heater core is bad. i dont even know where to start. and even then i dont know if the heater being bad might somehow relate to the a/c being bad.

Still could be a vacuum leak. the control uses vacuum to operate all the flaps and blend doors. In your case, I would check the lines connected to the switch panel on the dash.
