Default 2007 Ranger won't start after oil change???

I changed the oil and air filter in my 2007 Ranger 2.3 automatic. I cranked it to get the oil circulating and turned it off. The next morning(this morning arrgh) I fired it up and took off and in a mile it died in the middle of the road and would not restart. It fires and tries to run but dies immediatly never getting above idle speed. any ideas? I have not had one problem with the truck since I bought it in 2007 new.

do you have any codes? will the truck idle? or just die right away, did you try holding the gas pedal down a little to keep the RPMs at 2000 or so to see it it will run like that

no codes , I stuck the reader on it and no codes in memory. It will crank and die never gets over 400 rpm. its like it cranks and then some sensor shuts it down. arrrrgh I checked the fuel pump shut off , but it has fuel to crank every time I fire it , just wont sta lit for more than 3 seconds

Call them, tell them the problem(s) you've been having and they should send out a tow to pick you up and look at it.

My local Ford dealer doesn't tow for free but was able to find a local tow guy that only charged $50 to haul it in to ford.

They called this monring to tell me I had a bad MAS sensor and they would have me back on the road for $390 including the $100 diagnostic I was already into them for when I showed up.

Even though I have the Ford 100,000 mile warranty, it is not covered because the warranty only covers the internals not the peripherary(sp) stuff. I asked about the smog part warranty that is usually longer than the normal warranty. No good there either cus I just turned over 75K miles and that warranty eneded at 70K miles. Looks like I'm out the 4 bills. arrrrgh

...if the MAS was bad why didn't it have a code when I put my "black box" on the thing and read the codes???? But I had just replaced the air filter and that is where the MAS sensor is , so I probably disturnbed it when I was yanking around trying to get the 10 inch air filter thru the 8 inch hole they give you .

They make a speacial product called MAF cleanner and sell it at auto parts stores~$6. If the MAF gets dirty it won't send the propper signal to the PCM and the PCM will turn off spark and fuel. If you then disconnect the connector it will allow it to run but will throw a code.
My guess is that the MAF got rubbed the wrong way and dirt got pushed in the wrong way...
Don't use anything but MAF cleanner on it, or it will get destroyed....$$$$
